Go for the new. Perfection. 10 courses well paced. We especially enjoyed the cold smoked hamachi, lobster and waygu courses.

The uni and toro are superb. Really not that expensive considering the quality of the fish. Skip the mango mochi dessert and just order more sushi.

I had teh Omakase menu and you should too. Do not order anything else with it and its only $65 pp. Its plenty of food. Hard to get a reservation. Very, very good and I am a big foodie!

Booked this place after seeing all the ratings it's been getting. Seated at the bar, not quite as nice as the booths but the view of the kitchen made up for it! The restaurant really is the definition of a cute "hole in the wall" restaurant and has a very fitting atmosphere. The service was consistently great, every dish was explained with suggestions about how to eat the dish and notes on the flavor and preparation. About the food: Definitely get the Omakase Menu, it was likely the best Japanese food I have ever had the pleasure of trying. Mix of more traditional Sushi with rather experimental dishes such as raw quail eggs. Without spoiling too much, the sashimi (10th course) at the end was a highlight and the mango mochi rounded the meal off perfectly. Slightly more expensive but considering the quality, taste and (surprisingly) the portion sizes of each dish we left the restaurant more satisfied than we have been in a long time. Note: after the waiter suggesting to include Uni, we decided to pay $5 pp extra, but except if you have a desire to taste this I recommend not spending extra - it was only on one course and did not have a special taste that would justify the cost. All in all, an amazing find and a restaurant that any lover of Japanese cuising should not miss when visiting Chicago.

I live in Chicago and am a big foodie/sushi fan. This place is an absolute gem & one of my favorites! Adorable little restaurant with great atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food! Highly recommend checking it out and getting the omakase menu. This chef's menu is perfectly done and it has been different each time I've visited. Also, I enjoy sitting at the sushi bar watching the chef's work.
