Made a point to see how Kingston Mines is holding up on our Chicago visit. It was great in the late 90's when I'd make the trek down from college in the days I had more time than money but already had a soft spot for great live music. Visited this time with our adult friends and although the interior and layout didn't seem to have changed much (although now without smoking obviously) but the bands were still great, the setup still works, and I still came away thankful we'd made a visit.
The food is still solid, not exceptional. The service is playfully aggressive, it's no Weiner's Circle but if you want to take it up to that level that's not too far away. Always enjoy watching the customer reactions to the give/take.
For a reliable, quality, Chicago music experience, give Kingston Mines a shot.
