Very helpful and gracious hosts! Great breakfasts! Lovely rooms, and Galena is a beautiful little town--not too crowded and commercial! Would love to go back, and enjoy the experience again!

We came for our anniversary. We enjoyed the special touches such as couples cookies and a anniversary card. The breakfast was excellent.

Let me start by warning anyone who is thinking about staying at the Cloran Mansion Cottage Condo. The cottage condo as advertised is nothing but a hotel room at a time share bldg, if one needed something during their stay they would have to call to mansion staff and they would have to drive the eight miles to accomadate your request. When we expressed are dislike with the hotel room, we were told that even if you would like to cancel they would charge us the entire fee for the weekend. In my opinion if you want to stay and a B&D do not stay there.

Room tip: it is a Hotel room not a cottoge condo

Dennis,
You are correct, the condo is not at the Mansion. It is at an upscale time share lodge. We are sorry it was not clear that you would be staying off site at the condo. We have addressed the condo description to be sure future guests are aware the condo is off site. We hope that you would consider staying at the Cloran Mansion in the future to get that Bed and Breakfast experience you were looking for.

A weekend in Galena was our second choice for our anniversary weekend, our first being downtown Chicago. Almost everything in Chicago was unavailable due to Lalapalooza. THANK GOD FOR LALAPALOOZA! Cloran Mansion was far better than we would have found in a hotel in Chicago, and for a lot less $$$. Carmine & Cheryl (owners/hosts) were by far the most gracious and friendly B&B people we've ever come across! The mansion is beautiful, grounds are gorgeous, gazebo and patio (with a bonfire!) are amazing, and the little touches and details that our hosts put out are incredible! And the breakfast (on a 5-star scale) rates at least 7! We (like two of the other couples that were there) will be back again & again in the future!

We were treated like family the moment we walked in the door. Their service went beyond our expectations. The extra special touches were exceptional: the anniversary card and cookie, the treats in the common area and foyer, the beverages in the mini-fridge, the screened-in gazebo, fire pit, movies, etc. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and plentiful. We stayed in 'Alice's Room'. It is a small room, but very charming and full of above-standard features.
