The original Toni Patisserie opened at 51 South Washington Street in Hinsdale in 1994. It isn't as big as the newer bakery/cafe at 65 East Washington Avenue in Chicago but it has maintained a loyal cadre of customers over the years. They love the breakfast menu of oatmeal, Quiche Lorraine, scones, muffins, croissants and yogurt parfait with fresh fruit. The from-scratch, French-style approach to producing delicious sweets and savories makes you feel as though you just woke up in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. No exaggeration. Love the Toni Benedict, their version of the traditional Eggs Benedict, with poached eggs, Parisian-style ham and Hollandaise sauce on a house-made biscuit with breakfast potatoes. The selection of cakes, pastries and cookies is irresistible. You can't go home without a white chocolate mousse cake, reputed to be the best in town, or a chocolate raspberry cake or a vanilla cheesecake. Not to mention a bag of chocolate chip cookies, a few chocolate eclairs and fudge brownies and a couple of cupcakes.
