Raku Sushi looks almost promising pulling in to the parking lot and walking in the door. The atmosphere is pretty good, if a bit austere. My server was friendly, but she waited until there was literally one piece of sushi on my plate before asking, "is everything OK?"

I ordered a house salad, and two rolls, Futomaki and Unagi (eel). The salad is on the menu as "mixed greens", but sadly was 100% iceberg, with a dressing that had an unpleasant vinegar taste. The Futomaki is on the menu as 6 pieces, but i only received 5. It was OK, but not flavorful and skimpy on the fish. The Unagi featured rubbery eel. The sushi rice wasn't that fresh. The ginger is unfortunately artificially dyed pink instead of natural tan.

No wifi available, and the cell tower service is so bad that my broswer kept timing out. I cannot recommend this place.

It was my birthday weekend. We decided to have some dim sum for lunch and didn't want to drive all the way to Chinatown in Chicago. We had been to Raku Sushi before for sushi and wanted to try the dim sum, had read good reviews. When we were seated, our waiter brought the adults water and we had to specifically ask him to give water to our 3.5 year old son. The waiter refused and said our son would spill the water. This statement angered us since we had just sat down and our son was well-mannered. There were other families with small children in the restaurant. All the children seemed to be behaving well. We got some strange looks from the waiter and didn't feel welcome there. We decided to leave and go down the street to Joy Yee Noodle where the atmosphere was more acceptable of families with small children.

We'll NEVER go back to the restaurant!

The sushi I ordered at this place was the simple variety I get elsewhere, I wanted to see how they do basic stuff. It turned out quite good, fresh and robust. I didn't like the atmosphere and the interior of this place, and there was an unpleasant stale odor in the air. However the food didn't come short of my expectations.

I used to have to drive down to Chinatown for real dim sum, but no need to do that anymore!! Thanks to Raku which is only 5 minutes from my house. I am so thankful for this place!! The owners speak Cantonese which means these are real authentic dim sum makers! I just found out about this place 3 months ago and I've already visited 5 or 6 times!! I will be trying their sushi next!

Very nice atmosphere with relaxing music. Tried the Green Tea mochi (delicious!) it came out as little half balls of green tea ice cream encased in mochi ^_^ staff was friendly and helpful, attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely come back!
