Stayed with Ellen for two nights in Salen, near the Salen Hotel and about a mile from Archaracle. Rooms are fresh and bright and ours overlooked Loch Sunnart and we had a large shower room. Satellite tv a little difficult unless you are familiar however breakfast was really lovely. Lots of fresh berries, homemade scones, homemade German sough bread, white and rye. Great scrambled eggs with tomatoes and spring onions and my partner had the full cooked breakfast with venison sausage. He said it was the best breakfast of all places we stayed at. Good position Ellen very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Loch Summart

Ideal location for exploring the area. However the B&B was unsatisfactory. The owner was not present when we arrived and the promised welcome tea and cake failed to appear. Our room and en-suite were not cleaned after our first night. The TV was tuned to German channels. There were a number of items plugged into one adaptor/extension lead and we had to crawl on the floor to connect the kettle. The coffee granules were solidified and there were no glasses or milk. and insufficient teabags. While we enjoyed the breakfast the breakfast room was dirty. The photos and description on the website are misleading. Although we had booked for 3 nights we decided to move on after two.

Room Tip: Look for alternative accommodation

Ellen has taken over and we had a number of stays previously with the last owners and she has not changed much, so it's a warm welcome. Comfortable rooms and good showers. WiFi good but a little poor in the bedroom but great around the rest of the house. We will be returning.

a very great place to stay. Our room was really big and so was the bathroom as well. With some caring details, everything is made with love, you can see and feel it. The breakfast was fabulous, with fresh and selfbaked bread and pancakes and applecake and.... Ellen was the best delighful host and we had a great stay there, unfortunately too short. We will definitely come back and bring some more time to eat more cake and discover that beautiful area.

Was met with a very warm welcome from the owner. Exceptional views of Loch Sunart. Ellen the owner makes all her own bread and is very helpful, cant do enough. Breakfast is amazing. Plenty of Ordanance Survey maps of the local area to read. Will certainly be back.
