This area isn't hard-up for good pubs and having sampled most of them several times in the local area over the last couple of years, I'd feel pretty confident in saying that the Grantley Arms is one of the best after our first visit recently.
The pub itself is spacious but charming, with several good size areas that all contribute to that classic traditional country pub vibe. The staff are friendly, well trained and helpful. The menu is priced very competitively given that the food is very definitely at the high-end of good pub grub. Decent wine list (and some cocktails), too.
Stayed for a few rounds of drinks following a slow lunch on a Friday. Could have stayed all night. Cold day, gorgeous fire and plenty of casual seating space.
