Located in an historic part of downtown St. Charles, Town House Books and Café is a throwback to a pleasant small-town era (it refers to itself as a London or Paris-like literary café). The daily breakfast and lunch menu favors lunch (though Sunday brunch looks amazing) with freshly-baked breads, made-from-scratch soups, in-house roasted meats, premium coffees and a small but thoughtful beer and wine list. Our soup and sandwiches were excellent. The dining area is cozy (outside courtyard for nice weather) and the friendly servers are prompt.

Town House Café is a perfect spot for lunch and a rarity in that the quality of the food meets the promise of the lovely surroundings. The bookstore offers a quiet experience and an amazing collection of books to explore in the packed rooms of the house next door. Highly recommended for a time-out from a busy life.

This unique little cafe with charming brick patio has an attached bookstore which is housed in an historical old house has consistently delicious food especially their soups. They will even put me on their call list when my favorite soups, lentil or three bean, are available. Great salads, sandwiches and quiche. Friendly good service. And you can shop in the bookstore while you wait for a friend which is a must see and has nice gifts too. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the acoustics of the cathedral ceiling cause it to be kind of loud and I want to keep this little gem a secret so it's not more difficult to get into.

Don't miss this quaint cafe with attached book shop. It's charming and cozy and the food is wonderful! Interesting menu with yummy sandwiches, quiches and homemade soups. Oh, and don't forget to try the delicious desserts including a rhubarb & berry warm tart.

A quaint spot to grab a nice breakfast or lunch. Many tea options along with expresso, and desserts. The dessert is usually a cobbler or fruit crumble. Being a meat and potatoes guy I found it interesting I prefer their salad over sandwiches. The signature salad is meaty. Ham, turkey and bacon. We aren't talking this deli slices and "bacos." Ham and turkey sliced off the bone, and real bacon crumbles. Topped with blue cheese, and the herb dressing, you have a real winner on your hands. It will also fill you up.

Love to browse this "old house" for special books. After a little looking, a lunch is a good decision.
Great soup and sandwiches. Always have specials. A little loud, but due to all the friendly customers.
On a nice day there is outside seating.
