Description: A wonderful little gem in downtown Wheaton just 2 blocks from the Metra. Serving delicious, homemade dishes using preservative free ingredients and hormone/anti-biotic free beef, pork, bison, chicken and eggs. Fresh fish featured weekly, live music every Monday night, a great wine list and quaint sidewalk dining with alcohol service. We buy from businesses within our community, or from small businesses who are an integral part of their communities and try to have a positive impact on their environment. Opened in 2007, this husband & wife owned restaurant was nominated for Restaurant of the Year in 2010. You will be impressed with the ambiance of the small dining room, the personal, attentive service by the wait staff and the delicious menu options.

We walked downtown Wheaton last night after the first snow storm of the season hoping we could sit at the bar, not having reservations and we were in luck. Even with slippery roads, people started filling the restaurant. We enjoyed a couple glasses of French chardonnay at the bar and shared crab cakes, flat bread, and dates wrapped in bacon. Delicious as usual. This is one of our favorite go to restaurants if we feel like walking downtown. Their mushroom brie soup is also very good and must be a specialty as it is always on the menu.

My husband and I visited on a Sunday evening and had a fabulous dinner. Loved the atmosphere, especially the half-booth tables with comfy pillows. Live music was really nice, especially on a Sunday evening. Service was attentive and friendly. We tried the Spinach Artichoke dip appetizer which was very good. Chips seemed homemade and the dip was hot and delicious. We both had small house salads with a very nice, tangy house vinaigrette. Then we split the house-made spinach gnocchi and the white bean hummus and blackened shrimp flatbread. Both were HUGE and excellent. The portions were very large and we couldn't finish it all. We think we just found our new favorite restaurant in Wheaton and can't wait to return.

A gift certificate brought us to the Cellar Bistro. We had visited a few years prior and found the experience just "so-so", however, this time, we were impressed with the changes and had a wonderful dining experience. We were glad to have made a reservation on this Saturday night. It is a small venue and the tables and bar were full. When seated, we were promptly greeted by our server who introduced himself and the specials of the evening. We started with the crab cakes made with lump crab with a chipotle chili sauce on the side. It has a spicy kick that ramps up the taste of crab in a very good way. Our entrees were the Amish Chicken Roulade - a very tasty dish of chicken with raisins, spinach, Parmesan cheese with a creamed based wine sauce served over a bed of quinoa and kale. I opted for the Filet Mignon - which was cooked perfectly - with wild mushrooms over a potato/spinach cake and every bite was savored. A quality wine list - we chose to compliment our entrees and rate our dining experience overall as a positive one.

My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not real busy at that time. the service was ok. The chili was average, but the meat and cheese platter was really good with the wine paring.
