We stayed here for 4 nights in December 2017. It was a real highlight of our 3 week trip in Australia. There are several cabins perched near the cliffs of Stokes Bay which give you stunning views onto the sea and surrounding area. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility with amazing views then this is the place for you.

With regard to wildlife, then there’s plenty of kangaroos and wallabies here to keep you company. We met Paul who manages the properties on our first day there and he let us feed them with barley and they flocked from all round for the feed. They are friendly and curious creatures. He also told us where we might come across some koala’s and we did indeed find one up a eucalyptus tree within walking distance of the cottages.

The location of the cottages is perfect and they are also well equipped, spacious clean and tidy with a lovely balcony to take in the views in the morning and the evening. You may even get a visit by a possum as well in the evening which we did. There is also a TV in there with a broad selection of channels and complimentary wine and honey (thanks Paul, that wine was lovely by the way).

Overall, I would highly recommend. The kangaroos and wallabies will happily pop by to see you and say hello.

Room Tip: I think they are all good. There won't be any noise issues.

This is definitely a must stay for anyone visiting Kangaroo Island. The cottages are so cute and cosy and situated very remotely to give you an authentic experience. We checked in on boxing day and spent three nights and highly enjoyed it - we were even gifted with kangaroo island honey and wine on arrival! The cottages are situated almost coastal and offer amazing views of the sunset as well as the local kangaroos and wallabies. There is no wifi and reception is limited and patchy at best but it's a nice getaway from everyday life. The owners are lovely and very accomodating - unfortunately we weren't able to meet them as the reception was closed whenever we visited but they were easily contactable by phone. There is no air con in the cottages so it can be a bit uncomfortable at times but we found that they usually cooled by nighttime with the windows open. Just around the corner is Table 88 a delicious tapas restaurant which is also a must try!

Our one bedroom cabin had everything we required for our 6 night stay on Kangaroo Island. The cabin was well maintained and clean.

The view over Stokes Bay & beyond was just beautiful.

The stand out feature of this property was the resident kangaroos. Over our six night stay we spent hours on our deck each afternoon with a glass of wine or two watching the interaction between various groups of these animals. From the creepy old buck and his convoluted mating ritual, which he was so absorbed in, that he failed to see the object of his affections hop off to greener pastures long before he had finished. Then there was the two joeys who, each afternoon would practice their fighting skills - inevitably one would get hurt and just like a small child would hop off to it's mother for a cuddle.
There was also the "naughty" joey who attempted to drink from any mum who happened to be passing. We lost count of the number of times he received a slap across the face. At first we thought he may have been an orphan, but no, not the case.

Sorry, I digress.

At times we felt a little isolated at Waves and Wildlife as we were a long distance from anywhere and thought perhaps we should have split our stay between two different locations. We did much driving during our stay and probably saw many sights on this beautiful island we wouldn't have seen had we not had to travel off the beaten track.

To the owners, who we didn't have the opportunity to meet - thank you for the welcoming gifts - they much appreciated.

No wifi and difficult mobile reception means you detox from technology and just sit back and take in the view with a glass of chilled wine on the deck. In fact the view from our cabin is the iconic picture on the front cover of the Kangaroo Island official tourist brochure. You are surrounded by the friendly roos and other wildlife. It’s a short stroll to the hidden beach below. Stock up on food and drink before you go there as there are NO shops anywhere close. A wonderful relaxing few days. Highly recommended.

Fantastic location - they haven't exaggerated on the waves and wildlife! Kangaroos come right up to your cabin!

Lovely welcoming note and gifts (won't spoil the surprise!) and the hosts were lovely when we had a slight issue with the TV.

Cabin very roomy for a family of 4. All the mod cons in the kitchen and a bbq and deck for eating in (but it's a quick walk to the Rockpool Café which we would recommend!)

No internet access in the cabin but you can stroll to the top of the hill (2 min walk) to get a call out or update Facebook on the time you are having!

Would stay again and will recommend.
