Owner description: Travel through over a century of transportation history. See the rise of the Studebaker Corporation from its beginnings in small South Bend Blacksmith Shop. Admire over 50 vehicles which tell the Studebaker story and display iconic styling.

Dragged the wife on another museum trip. Her understanding of studebaker’s came from “American Pickers.” We both enjoyed the displays and really learned the history of these beautiful automobiles and the impact on South Bend.

I would say that this is not an all day visit. We did the rounds in about 2.5 hours and we went back to a couple of cars. It was a week day visit so it was very quiet. Really didn’t see anyone to ask any questions so that kinda different than most places. Maybe we just looked like we knew what was up.

I’m not normally a carriage guy, but did really enjoy the historical side of the presidential carriages. Definitely interesting to see Lincoln’s last carriage ride (alive).

I recommend this an excursion while in South Bend.

This museum has many great Studebakers on exhibit and is well worth the trip for anyone who is interested in Studebakers.

If you are not familiar with the Studebaker automobile and family, you should be. This museum gives you all the information and has a nice display of Studebaker vehicles and paraphernalia. This museum is smaller than the facility vacated a number of year back, so the displays are a bit more congested and not every vehicle in the inventory is on display. But it is definitely worth the stop.

Knew nohting about the museum until I saw it on a map and decided to take a detour off I-80 as a break on the trip to Chicagoland. A real mix of local /midwest history, the studebaker company, and the indsutrialists of that locale and era.
well worth the stop! Don't usually do the old hosue tours, but the doecent was quite knowledgeable and it was a good insight into the life of old money.

We recently visited the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend and it exceeded our expectations. It not only includes a great history of the Studebaker autos, but includes a history of the whole Studebaker family. Theirs is a large family and an interesting look into American history at that time. Did you know they were very instrumental in the development of wagons in the late 1800s? There are lots of relics there and the museum flows nicely for the visitor.
