Playa Venao is not easy to get to but if you make the effort you won't be disappointed. The owners and staff do everything they can to make you comfortable. The pool is great, the views of the Pacific are astonishing. Bar tenders treated us like their local friends, there were DJ's at the bar a few nights and the menu at the restaurant was diverse and well presented. We marveled at the rather good connection speed and range of the Wifi throughout the compound. We hope to go back for a longer stay next year!!

Room Tip: Try the Lighthouse room once in your life-you won't be disappointed!!

We has lunch at El Sitio. We had fish lettuce wraps that were really good, and a huge fried fish (sea bass) and tasted like microwave defrosted, which is strange since this is a fishing town. However, the asian fish sauce was delicious (my rating is because of the sauce and the delicious side salad). Prices are a bit expensive. Not sure if we would return.

Great beach, great food, great vibes. The staff is always with a smile. If you are looking for a great getaway, a place where your body and head can relax, El Sitio is the place. Highly recommended! I am definitely coming back.

We stayed at the El Sitio hotel December 20-25. Very relaxing ocean view, two-room suite. 20 feet from our room was a nice pool and an outdoor shower for rinsing. The rooms were perfect for a family or a group of friends. There was a small refrigerator but no microwave. We borrowed one from my uncle that lives nearby. If you are not lucky enough to have that kind of hook-up, I recommend buying a cheap electric skillet before you leave Panama City. $15-$25 is worth the cost savings. Bring your own snacks, quick meals, beverages, and stuff to make sandwiches. There is a small store about 60 yards away but stuff is a little expensive and the selection is limited.
I could live here.

Playa Venao boasts a beautiful beach, some of the best surfing, and a relaxed vacation vibe. Our family loved staying at El Sitio - the hotel or "village" provided a perfect location right on the beach and a restaurant great for breakfast or lunch (the mojitos were delicious, too!) We stayed in a suite with two bedrooms, an equipped kitchen, and lovely porch complete with a hammock and seating area for relaxing and enjoying the ocean view. We were a bit nervous at first that our room location just above the bar would be noisy at night with partying, but the place is actually pretty calm and serene 24/7. The staff was friendly and accommodating; they even arranged for an off-site masseuse to come to our suite and give each family member a relaxing 1-hr massage for an excellent price. There are a few good, healthy restaurants nearby, some even accessible by beach-walk. There is also an on-site surf shop for renting boards and much more. Our only real issue was coming and going from the hotel, as the road has more potholes than any rental car should encounter. If you plan on cooking at all, be sure to come prepared and stop at the Super in Pedasi (closest real town), as Playa Venao is quite isolated. Highly recommend a stay here!

Room Tip: Definitely opt for ocean view!
