Oh my goodness, this adorable little diner! And it's great name! We just had to stop here. We ordered typical diner food--burgers and fries and soda pop (in a can!) and just enjoyed squishing in and sitting on little booth stools around the tiny counter. The waitress was so friendly and helpful, and she even had some ideas for things to see in Mason City while we were there. It was a cold weekend, and we enjoyed our warm food. A sign on the wall proudly labeled this place a Valentine diner. Later, we looked up the history of Valentine Diners, and we were sure glad we stopped. Our first one!
We signed our names to one of the wall tiles, which is a local tradition, too. This little place made our weekend visit to Mason City all the more fun. Sorry, not handicapped accessible, but there is an order window and tables outside for warmer weather dining in the spring and summer months. Locate this cutie patootie little Suzie-Q in downtown Mason City on your next visit.

We enjoyed our meal at this fun little diner. Complete with some magic tricks from the cook. Worth a trip for a quick meal if you are in town.

I've been eating at this place for twenty years. Troy is a very engaging fellow and is very welcoming as you arrive. Expect good, down home style diner cooking. If you ask, you may get a little magic for desert! You won't be disappointed.

What a great part of Mason City. It is great fun to stop in for a meal, visit with the owner. We had breakfast which was good, but need to plan a trip where we can try out their port tender as it is advertised as the second best in the nation.

This venerable Mason City is truly a quirky, throw-back diner featuring quick service and good food. My wife and I were visiting the Historic Park Inn and wanted to sample some of the local flavors so we ate breakfast here one morning last week. The traditional and senior breakfast were excellent. Learning we were from out of town, the owner recommended we see the "sign museum at the end of the street" and the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, which we did and found to be very enjoyable. We were also treated to the ketchup, flying cards and dice magic tricks. We returned the next morning for breakfast again when we sampled the French toast with ham and the biscuits and gravy. The French toast was excellent but I was disappointed with the gravy, which tasted like it came out a can and was definitely not home-made. We would love to return to try the pork tenderloin.
