A very good place to take your children to show them what life used to be like before so much STUFF began crowding out our life and we became to occupied with our gadgets. The thing is it is very realistic. In fact a lot of stuff I seen in the big farm house I either had used as a child or owned similar things as an adult. I truly enjoyed the whole experience. I like it hat they have a trolley that can take you from site to site if you can't do a lot of walking. Just ask them about it when you enter. It is very authentic. Remember to take a camera take lots of pictures and feel free to ask any questions of the volunteers at each site. You will want to go more then once like check it out at different times of the year.

A bit pricey for what you get. We got here late and two of the farms were closed but we still had to pay full price. Fun part was the tractor ride out to the 1900 farm. Loved the animals!

This is a wonderful way to spend an hour or most of the day. The Living History Farms, are great for anyone who is interested in the past. The staff (mostly unpaid volunteers) were wonderful. I would not recommend this on a day that is to warm, or with anyone who cannot walk easily. The staff wears period costumes and great care has been taken to stay authentic to each time period and profession. Truly a joyous way to spend the day in the past.

We had a picnic and social there on a business trip. The history of farming in Iowa in the 1800's was well depicted. The barn was way ahead of its time unless you were quite wealthy. It would be a very nice way to spend a day walking around the farm, going into all the buildings, and enjoying the history. We didn't have enough time to do it justice. I would like to go back and spend at least half a day there.

This place is a gem. Plan to slow down and spend sometime, lots to see. Be prepared for some walking, which was great, really enjoyed the short walk through the woods between farms. It's like taking a step back in time. All the workers were informative and friendly.
