My friend and I stayed with Darlene at her lovely B&B recently while on an excursion through Kentucky. We had a wonderful experience! The Patriot Suite was lovely and the main hall offered many nooks for chatting or my 4AM reading. Breakfast was so very good and Darlene shared her recipe for the eggs. Of course, we had to take some fresh eggs home. We're already planning another trip, maybe fishing. Darlene was very helpful with travel suggestions as well.

Room Tip: For those with limited abilities, there are stairs (17) to the upstairs guest rooms but there is one...

Glad to share the Egg recipe with you as there are no finer eggs than those from Free-Range cage-free chickens, as they are low in cholesterol and high in Omega 3! !
Come back soon for that fishing, repelling, caving, eating, sightseeing, bird watching, shopping or any number of "no agenda" activities here in Hart County at Country Girl At Heart Farm Bed & Breakfast.

Wonderful room, atmosphere, food and innkeeper. Just loved the location and the drive from the Derby experience to this B&B was so worth the time. I was on my own and could not have been treated better. I wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed more of Dorothy and her family.

The Artisan room was so pretty, the food was delicious, and the conversation was warm and friendly. I stayed there while doing some genealogy research at WKU and found it to be well worth the drive. The farm is so pretty and I loved the sounds of the chickens in the morning. I will definitely return!

My girlfriend and I stayed here along with another couple we're friends with, while we all visited Mammoth Cave on a little weekend getaway.

We stayed in the Artisan room, and the other couple stayed in the Farmer's room.

We all had a wonderful stay, and enjoyed the rooms, the atmosphere, the house, and of course, the food! Darlene, our host, made us all feel very welcome, and each morning, she cooked a variety of delicious breakfast dishes for us. There were farm-fresh eggs both mornings, along with bacon, as well as pastries from a local Amish bakery. The dishes Darlene made included a cranberry French toast casserole on our first morning, and another hearty breaded breakfast casserole on our second morning. Needless to say, we all ate as much as we could- to fuel up for a long day of walking through caves, of course!

The rooms (and the house) featured a clever and charming array of repurposed farm items, including such noteworthy items as a bathtub/shower made from a watering trough, and a bathroom sink made from a wooden stool and a milk bucket. The beds were very comfortable, and thanks to the isolated location out in the country, the evenings were quiet and peaceful.

We all agreed that we would definitely stay there again if we were back in the area, and suggest that others consider it as well.

Room Tip: The Farmer's room is on the 1st floor, off the entrance hallway. The other rooms are all on the...

We did not want to leave after our two night stay!!! Our family of three stayed in the Pioneer Room with the extra half-room and had more than enough space to relax. The bed in the main room was so comfortable, it was hard to get out of bed in the morning. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we really appreciated Darlene's attention to our vegetarian diet. The complimentary bottled water and snacks was also much appreciated after a long day of hiking in the surrounding area. Our daughter could not get enough of helping to feed the animals and collect eggs. It was the ultimate Easter egg hunt! Our only "complaint" would be that we needed one more day to enjoy all the activities Darlene so thoughtfully provided for her guests to enjoy. We loved it here and you will too.

Room Tip: Great place to stay with children elementary age or older.
