Trey Yuen has always been our favorite Chinese restaurant in this area and we are crushed hearing that it is closing May 31. There is another Trey Yuen in Mandeville which will remain open. Some folks aren't high on Trey Yuen but there sure are a lot of us that are. Went there tonite and saw the biggest crowd of folks I've ever seen on a Monday night. I sure will miss my Shrimp in Lobster sauce (#6 on the menu).

Trey Yuen is not your typical Chinese buffet. This is a very good restaurant with a wide range of Chinese foods of various types. The menu is extensive. There is something for everyone on the menu. The prices are surprisingly low for a restaurant of this quality. The grounds outside and in an interior courtyard are beautifully landscaped. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient.

My wife and I shared a butterfly shrimp appetizer. It was very good -- especially with the hot mustard sauce. Just be careful and don't overdo it -- the sauce is very hot. I then had the lemon chicken: fried breast fillets topped with a tangy lemon sauce and served with rice. It was delicious.

Things have been going down hill here recently in terms of good quality and staff. The last few visits though have been excellent. Maybe they're turning things around. Food was outstanding.

This is THE place to go for the very best in Chinese food in the Hammond area. Menu includes many original dishes found only here. Dining rooms are magnificently decorated and comfortable for a part of one or two of LARGE parties. Forget those ALL you can eat buffets, here you will be served ONLY the very best quality ingredients in each dish. Portions are MORE than generous most will be taking leftovers home. Wait staff are very knowledgeable and able to assist with your selection. Trey Yuen has been in the Hammond are more than 40 years serving QUALITY food. You will be very happy you gave them a try and will be back.

I have been coming to the Wong brothers' restaurants for over 40 years (originally China Inn in Hammond), and we know they can cook excellent Chinese (especially Szechuan) food. Both Trey Yuens, and especially the Hammond location, need sprucing up. The entrance needs to be opened up, the whole place cleaned and updated. The food in Mandeville is better than Hammond, but that may be because the Hammond restaurant never seems to have much business. And they need to update the wine and beer list! Add some Sauvignon blanc, dry Rielsing, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Noir! And some more local craft brews. They need to quit coasting and sharpen up their game. The people are always very friendly, and takeout is our favorite way to go.
