Owner description: Cajun Pride Swamp Tours is a wildlife refuge just 25 miles from New Orleans. Our privately owned swamp ensures that your narrated tour will not be disturbed by other boats. We will take you back to the early days of Louisiana bayou swamp explorations while learning about the life and habits of the American Alligator. Experience up-close, the inhabitants of our swamp and unique history of the Cajun town of Frenier within the Manchac Swamp.

I had a very different experience from most of the other reviewers. The swamp tour was informative, but the boat captain was pretty boring. I'm used to tour guides who try to make the tour fun. Not so much in this case. We then went to Laura. The tour guide, Camille, was positively terrible. She spoke incredibly fast, and, when one of the visitors from another country asked her to slow down a bit, she insisted that he leave the tour. (She told us that she didn't like his body language.) From that point on, everyone was scared to ask any questions. Also, I had been expecting that much of the tour would focus on what life was like on the plantation. However, much of it was devoted to the family that actually lived there. It was okay, but I was expecting more.

When we visited New Orleans, we knew we wanted to do a swamp tour. We looked online and found Cajun Pride Tours on Groupon. This tour had great reviews and did not disappoint! Our boat was captained by Brandon, a native to the area. Brandon made the tour exciting and entertaining! When we weren’t laughing at his jokes or petting the animals Brandon brought aboard, we were enjoying the vast wilderness and wildlife in the swamp. This is a tour not to be missed! You won’t regret it!

25% of 6 hours was spent at Oak Alley Plantation. Expected to be picked up at hotel 12:30 the latest so we stood outside our hotel beginning at 12:15. Picked up at 12:55. No one ever picked up phone at tour company when trying to reach them to inquire about delay. Several more tour patrons were picked up before arriving at a swamp tour first where we were told to check in. After a 20 minute wait, we were assigned a new bus & driver that would continue to the plantations. After stopping at the Laura Plantation first to let those who opted to see that house out, we finally arrived at the Oak Alley Plantation at 2:55 and were then instructed to meet back at the bus at 4:30. We had until 3:20 to tour the grounds and grab something to eat (only chips, ice cream & unappetizing premade sandwiches were available since the bar bites menu closed at 3) before the 50 minute scheduled house tour was to begin. We were dropped off 2 blocks away from the hotel at 6:30 PM.

This is Lori with Cajun Pride Swamp Tours. Information that helps us provide better service is always appreciated. We encourage our guests to research our tours (full information can be found on our website or email) so that they know what is offered and what can be expected when touring. We apologize that you did not know full information regarding our tour. Also, that you did not understand our transportation services and pertinent information that would have made your experience more enjoyable. Although we wish to have all guests tour with us, we understand some guest are on a strict schedule or do not wish to use a shuttle service due to built in extra time and recommend a rental car or personal car at those times.

Per our website, pickup begins at 12:30pm (not ends at 12:30pm) and may continue for up to 30 minutes. Our busses arrive at Cajun Pride at approximately 1:30pm for a transfer to the plantation. Busses depart the swamp no later than 2:00pm as both plantation tours are on a scheduled tour time. Many guests enjoy this 30 minutes of free time browsing our gift shop, using the restroom and enjoying the grounds at Cajun Pride (unless traffic conflicts occur which will reduce the amount of free time). Please note, that driving time from New Orleans to Laura or Oak Alley is approximately 1 full hour or more (usually more) depending on traffic plus approximately 30 minutes built in for our stop at the swamp. Cajun Pride transportation will drop off guests at either location between 2:45-3:00pm. Drop off is first at Laura Plantation follow by drop off at Oak Alley Plantation. Oak Alley tour time is approximately 3:00pm. Laura tour time is approximately 3:10pm. The times are each what is offered through the plantations and we are unable to deviate from what is assigned.

Hopefully, the information provided will clarify the amount of time it takes for a plantation tour which includes the pick-up of other guests and the check-in process which is part of our shuttle/transportation service. Of course, traffic and weather conditions should always be taken into consideration as it is frequently part of the overall time involved in traveling this distance. We hope that you had a great time the remainder of your visit in New Orleans.

Great wildlife experience. The family loved the boat tour, alligators, food and great people. We have plan to return back again. Great history story about the place. We got to actually hold baby alligators. We seen and experience other wildlife as well. Great family experience for the kids most of all.
