I traveled with 2 other ladies to visit Natchitoches during their beautiful Christmas Light display. The lights along the Cane River are just beautiful.
We couldn't have picked a better place than Ducournau Townhouse. Oh how I wish I could live there! The home is full of antiques and yet full of our modern day conveniences too such as a fridge, oven, coffee pot, etc. While the accommodations don't include a breakfast, you are provided milk, juice, and coffee. That was all we needed. This townhouse has 4 bedrooms and normally you must rent the full townhouse. The owner was nice enough to let us rent just the lower 2 bedrooms for 1 night and yet we had access to the full house. There is a balcony that runs across the width of the property and offers beautiful views of Cane River and the Christmas Lights if you choose to go in Nov/Dec. The bedrooms are quaint, cozy and comfortable. The front bedroom can get a bit noisy as it faces Front St. but it wasn't enough to keep me awake. I could go on and on about this property, but will end by just saying that if you want the ambience of Natchitoches along with beautiful antiques; and the convenience of walking out the door, down the steps and you're in the midst of the shopping district then this is the place for you.More
