I have been going to Envy hairdressing salon for years with Leanne and Fiona and now Ellena, they are always so friendly and Ellena did a fantastic job of curling my hair for New Years Eve thank you so much

The hotel has become our go to place to celebrate the New year. As always, the staff were absolutely brilliant, and I must mention Irene at the bar. She only sees us once a year, but she always says hello. The meal was absolutely delicious, and not silly food either. We thoroughly enjoyed the party, and the young lady who was the live performer was very good
Our room was clean, comfortable, and warm. Breakfast was buffet, and had everything most people would want.
The only thing is it badly needs updating. It used to be so smart, but now looks like a pot of paint is desperately needed.

Chris and Zowie the night staff are BRILLIANT and a real credit to MGH
They deliver the highest level of friendly caring kind oldstyle hospitality
Irene in the restaurant is also super sweet and kind

Visiting family for Christmas we thought we'd treat ourselves and upgrade from the usual budget / chain hotels we stay in. It was all a bit disappointing to be honest. The bar and reception were clean and modern, however the rooms and corridors were dated and dirty. The dirty food trays in the corridor when we arrived at 10pm were still there the following morning and there was mould around the bath. The shower was weak and lukewarm at best. All the carpets looked like they could do with a good deep clean. We didn't use the pool but my son used the gym and said it was well equipped.

We had a nightcap in the bar and thought the drinks were overpriced, didn't even get a slice of lemon or lime in the G&T!

Feeling a bit let down we hoped breakfast would be better. It wasn't really. The sausages and eggs were nice but the bacon and black pudding (the highlight of any breakfast!) were dry and tough.

Despite the general grubbiness, all the staff were polite, friendly and helpful and were the best bit of our short stay.

We should have saved a few quid and used another local chain which has never let us down in the past.

Thank you for your recent review following your stay, I am sorry to see your comments in relation to your room being tired and the pressure not being the best in your room. I also note your comments regarding your breakfast experience. I do hope that you spoke to the team whilst at the hotel as our chef on duty would always replace any items should they not be to our usual standard in the restaurant.
Lovely to see that you found the stay who you came into contact with were all polite and friendly.
I do hope that you will try the hotel again when next in the Bolton area.

Unfortunately this time our experience at this hotel was horrible. First, they got confused with our bookings, and we had confirmation by phone that the rooms were booked and when we arrived we weren't, but they solved that problem. The worst thing is that we felt that we were treated with racism for being foreigners. We were in a large group at the bar, having a good time and spending a lot, when we had complaints about the noise we were making at the bar. The night before there was a British family making a lot of noise and having a good time, but no one complained about it. We were sober, playing cards, and laughing and were prevented from having a good time by sheer prejudice and racism. At no time was there any prohibition of noise, because the noise came from laughter and not from fights. We will never return to this hotel because we were discriminated against. Also note that the rooms all need a good renovation, cleaning was not the best. But except that some employees were very friendly, the attendant Bruna is one who helped us so much 5-star review for her and she was always constantly trying to help us and make sure we had the best stay possible. We do not recommend it to anyone who is not British, because even though we speak English we were discriminated against.

Room tip: don't make noise at the bar, talk in a deaf-mute language, unless you're British, you can feel free and make as much noise as you want
