“Interesting if you know the story and history.”
Review of Evangeline Oak

This old tree is interesting if you know the story of Evangeline and the Acadians. The whole history of the Acadians and their relocation to French Louisiana is very interesting and an important page in our history.

The oak was huge and beautiful. The river area was lovely and had easy access from the church. Very romantic and pretty.

This Longfellow poem has always been one of my favorites so it was very inspiring to be in the location where his two Acadian protagonists are reunited.

Sometimes when you live in a town with historic things you tend to take them for granted. however, last fall we took the kidos for a walk on the boardwalk near the Evangeline Oak and reminisced a little. This is a great place for a small picnic. It's shady, there are benches, it's very quaint, and of course there's the "tree" (and it's all free). Oh, and it's close to several other attractions/eateries if you choose. Check it out.

We visited the small park several times. It was neat and well maintained. We enjoyed the walkway by the water behind the oak.
