I went here for lunch while spending a couple days in Bath. It's an awesome little hole-in-the-wall serving authentic street tacos. I got the chicken, carnitas and fish tacos. All were very good. The verde salsa was a nice addition. Service was quick and friendly. This place is the perfect size for a taco joint. Everything was made fresh, you can tell by all the pots cooking on the range next to the drink cooler.
The place appeared very clean. The only recommendation I could make would be to put a coat of paint or some rubber mats on the floor in the kitchen. The kitchen is visible from the counter and this small change would go a long way with the first impressions upon walking in.
Overall, great experience and awesome tacos. I would go back anytime and every time.

Always get great meals here and the food is always fresh as well as the salsa. If you love Mexican food this is the best you will find in our area Bath, Brunswick, and Wiscasset included.

We ate here on vacation after going to the Maine Maritime Museum. It was so small that we passed it a few times looking for the parking lot. There is none. You have to park on the street but thankfully it was a Saturday evening and the next door credit union was closed so we were able to park beside the building.

This place is definitely meant for mostly take out. It only sat 8 people, and that would be tight. We were the only ones there so we ate inside. They had a cooler with different drinks, and we were happy to find Dr Pepper. It was the first restaurant we had seen it in in the week we had been on vacation. We're from Oklahoma where it's the number one soda.

I got carne asada tacos with verde sauce (see photo), and it was quite delicious. My husband got the asada burrito with black beans and said the same. We also got a side order of their special cilantro lime brown rice, and it had very little flavor and was a bit dried out.

Ate here today for the first time. Fortunately we grabbed one of the two tables there. It's a very small space. Food is cooked to order. We tried the carne asada soft tacos and carnitas burrito. The tacos weren't huge but tasty and fresh. The burrito was large and filling. Can't wait to return and try other menu items.

Mateo's is tiny. Two employees take your order and quickly assemble your meal. The menu is very simple, tacos, burritos, quesadillas. Standard fillings, meat, beans veg, all very nicely done.
