A perfect spot to spend the night after climbing Mount Battie and spending some time in Camden. My teens found tons of activities to keep them busy.

Hiking mid-week in November will almost always assure a quiet hike! We only saw one other hiker all day! The park entrance ranger was very helpful. Views were spectacular and the hike itself was moderate without too many extreme trail sections to scramble. 6+ miles with lots of photo stops and a more leisurely pace took us about 4-5 hours.

This is a large state park with a good number of hiking trails, but it's an easy drive up to the parking lot on Mount Battie, where there are great views of Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay below.

Right off the parking lot is a World War I memorial, a 26-foot high stone tower, which children love to go up. There are more views of Penobscot Bay from there and in front of it.

On one visit, we also chose to hike up Mount Megunticook (elevation over 1,300 feet), which took about 1-1/2 hours and was steep at times. The views from there were also magnificent!

I have gone here in Summer and Fall, and both times were terrific, although the latter time featured the colorful foliage!

The cost to enter the park is $4 for Maine residents and $6 for non-residents, with children and seniors getting in for less.

A short drive from Lincolnville or Camden is the Camden Hills State Park.

For a small fee and a short drive you will be at the peak of this 5,710 acre public area and on a clear day you will literally see for miles.

The Town of Camden with boats bobbing on clear water to your right and the many islands of Penobscot Bay.

Although we enjoyed the views hiking/cycling the "multi-use" trails apparently is also popular. Lucky Camden residents to have this amenity on their doorstep.

We stopped at Camden Hill State Park to break up the drive, but had an excellent hike. After driving up Mt. Battie and enjoying the view, we walked to the Ocean Lookout and to Adam's Lookout. It's a good trail to an impressive viewpoint.
