Four of us ended up here after hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail close by. It was the best food we had in our 6 days in Maine, including a terrific Reuben, wonderful scallops, fresh garden salads, and an amazing chocolate cake. All four of us were very well satisfied.

We have eaten here many times and the food is always outstanding. They always have home cooked specials which are delicious as well as pub fare. Service is very consistent

The Lake Shore House Pub offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where the vacationing visitor can rub shoulders with locals during dinnertime. Diners can choose from a lakeside courtyard with views of Lake Hebron (heck, you can lounge on the dock if you choose with your feet in the lake), a busy bar in the back of the establishment, or a quieter front dining room that can handle larger groups. There is a rotating selection of about 5 draft beers on tap ranging from local Maine craft brews to PBR. Also plenty of bottled options, wine and spirits.

The menu includes typical pub fair sprinkled with some surprises. My daughter (and I) ordered our first escargot on a recent visit (after hiking nearby Borestone Mountain). Yum! The specials board is where the kitchen shines though. There are always 3-5 delicious dinner specials that won't leave you disappointed. I recently ordered a pesto chicken "flatbread" that presented more like a gyro, but delicious anyway. Hand cut homemade french fries were as good as I've tasted anywhere.

Call ahead and come before the dinner hour if you have a bigger party and hope to be seated. If you like music, come later as there is often live music on weekends, but expect a larger crowd and a busy (but friendly) waitstaff.

Thank you to the owner Rebekah for continuing to offer a great go-to when in Monson Maine!

I've only had ice cream here but it was very good; not homemade but very popular Giffords ice cream which is a regular in a lot of Maine establishments. I had the Maine Bear Tracks which was vanilla ice cream with a raspberry swirl and mini raspberry truffles throughout. Delicious!!!

Stayed at the hostel upstairs after hiking the 100 mile wilderness, and it was the first time I felt safe sleeping in the sheets at one. I've stayed at a lot of hostels but this one is the best, and especially the cleanest, yet. Professional yet warm staff, too. Delicious food. Friends who stayed at nearby hostels were wishing they'd stayed here.
