Description: Emilitsa is a Greek restaurant located in the arts district of Portland, Maine and boasts a contemporary and casual atmosphere. Emilitsa brings a wide array of Mezethes (small plates), Megala Piata (large plates), and pristinely fresh seafood to the seacoast area. We honor the breadth of traditional cuisine from all regions of Greece. We prepare our Greek dishes with as many local, fresh, organic and natural ingredients as are available to us. We also accommodate those with food allergies.

My husband chose Emilitsa to celebrate our one year anniversary at Emilitsa because we got married in Greece this day last year. We were not disappointed. If we could not be in Milos, this was close! Delicious lamb and Moussaka paired with a delightful wine. Our server, Katie, was attentive and made us feel special. Thank you!

Very impressive, cozy space. We had such excellent service and food, we were compelled to congratulate the owner before we left. Portland restaurants have a lot of competition, and this is one of the best we have experienced. Ample portions, fresh fresh fresh ingredients, and fabulous presentation are the highlights. Waitstaff were attentive and efficient. Pork sausage and grilled octopus appetizers were too good to be true. Lamb chops and moussaka were absolutely delicious. The one regret is that we did not leave room for dessert! We have already recommended this lovely restaurant to our friends who frequently visit Portland and will definitely return.

The restaurant didn't distinguish itself in any way--food, ambiance, or service. We had a reservation, but were kept waiting half an hour. There are several Greek wines on the menu and it would have been helpful to have some descriptions of them--dry, fruity, etc.--to help make a choice.

We had dinner at Emilitsa with one other couple. Outstanding! The service was attentive without being intrusive or obsequious. The food was as good as one can get in Portland, and certainly one of the best Greek restaurants we have ever eaten in (Including Athens and Thessalonica). Traditional Mousaka , fabulous lamb chops, a sea bream flown in on ice from Greece and fileted expertly at the table, and chicken souvlaki were the four choices for dinner. The best!!!. Greek coffee was prepared to just the correct sweetness for a few different palates.
