First time at this hotel and we will return. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. Located right in the Old Port, it was easy walking to everything we wanted to do. The valet parking was convenient and reasonably priced. We had an excellent breakfast, and while the dining room is a little small, the ambiance was very nice. The breakfast staff couldn't have been more friendly.
The only downside is the one elevator which at times was slowed because of how full the hotel was. It didn't take anything away from the overall experience. I'd happily recommend the Portland Harbor Hotel to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Portland.

Perfect location to walk to all the restaurants, bars and shops on Fore Street and Commercial Street/harbor area. The hotel itself is adorable and very comfortable. On our floor we had access to complementary Starbucks coffee that we loved -- we would grab a cup each time we left to go explore. Each staff member we came in contact with was super friendly, and genuinely seemed to take pride in their job and the property. The valet was prompt and efficient. We didn't eat at the property, but next time would check it out. Did not rate this property a 5/5 due to an old sock from a previous guest being left under our bed, and it was evident that the toilettes had not been changed out and were already used (the foils had been broken on the mouthwash, etc). The walls were also pretty thin., We could hear a family playing with their baby/laughing quite clearly -- but this would not deter me from staying there again. Great staff, great location, comfortable/adorable hotel & guest rooms.

The hotel and its staff was top notch. Clean, comfortable and friendly. When we arrived, the valet parking gents took our names, our luggage and car. By the time we reached the check-in, all our paperwork was ready and we were greeted with warm words and smiles.

First i will start by staying that the staff was phenomenal.. from the front desk to valet, they were all incredible nice and helpful.. between them and the free starbucks coffee they earned a 2*... so yes, you guessed it... it was the room that stunk... first of all it was a pet friendly room in which i found leftover swag from a dog seminar or something (see picture)... and oh yes then there were the Down pillows... it's like serving peanuts on an airplane.. who has down-pillows anymore.. i would have had better luck using a Persian cat as a pillow... needless to say i had a severe reaction from just leaning my back against them (god help me if i laid my head on one)... and if not for the front desk manager (past midnight) having his own supply of antihistamine things could have been a lot worse for me.. then there was the bed... a thin layered mattress (not even a pillow top) with springs.. my back was a wreck by the time we left... then there was the awesome experience of finding out that the walls are thin... at one point the first night, i actually thought there was someone in our bathroom... and speaking of the bathroom.. what luxury hotel has grodi bathroom metal wear (see attached pictures).. disgusting toothbrush holder and tissue box cover... ohh and not the hotels fault, but a party bus did actually park directly under our window the last night, for ahhh i dunno about 2-3 hours i think... funny thing is we were so spent from the terrible experience that we just dealt with it like it was normal....

Room Tip: ask for a no pet room, and hypoallergenic pillows (if needed).. and face the water...

Dear Fred A.,

Thank you for your kind words about our staff. They work hard to ensure our guest's are comfortable and truly strive to deliver a great experience for everyone. I deeply regret that we weren't given the opportunity to rectify the hypoallergenic issue for you. While we welcome those travelling with pets, we also are prepared to ensure those with allergies, both pet and down, are provided a clean and comfortable room as well. Please reach out to me the next time you find yourselves in Portland so we may ensure your comfort. I can be reached directly by email at GKiladjian@harthotels.com.

Kind Regards,

This was our second trip to PHH. Very pleased with this relatively new hotel in Old Port. On site valet parking was convenient, the lobby is spacious and inviting and our suite room was terrific. The suite included a large walk-in shower and a gas-powered fireplace with timer. The suite had a sleek, almost swedish decor - very appealing to us. Also free Wi-Fi and a great bluetooth speaker system to play our music.

The only feedback is that the lobby bar closed at 10:30pm on a Friday night. Many of the guests were returning from a show at the nearby Cross Insurance Arena and wanted a nightcap. We were told that last-call was announced and we were out of luck.... on a Friday night... when many guests were returning from the show. Not ideal.
