My heart has been in Portland, Maine for 30+ years, although I am from away. Spending the summer in Portland, been walking by this place for a couple of months without stopping in. Couldn't decide on a lunch choice as it was getting late, but made Bao Bao our destination.

Happened in at the beginning of Happy Hour, which included half price dumplings, so there was an unexpected bonus. The servings were large - all 6 stuffed dumplings. We had the steamed mushroom/spinach, the hake, and the fried kung pao chicken. All were Excellent What a blast!!

Good beer selection. Small but well balanced with the dumplings. The physical layout is done in really good taste. Service was excellent!

Lots of good eating options in Portland. Here's another one

I turned up just expecting dumplings. However, I was blown away by the trendy asian fusion smoked lamb dish with roasted gourmet carrots served on a pea pistacio puree. It was divine!! If you are in the mood for some asian food tonight this is the place to be in Portland...seriously...you can't go wrong. The service was also fantastic.

We were recommended to visit this restaurant which just happened to be next door to where we were staying! What a great experience. We started by sharing the cold chicken with cucumber in a peanut and chilli sauce. We did take the servers recommendation on the whole meal and he was spot on! 2 x different dumpling dishes were followed by "Ants Fly the Nest" and we had some rice. Small but comfortable restaurant and a most enjoyable meal.

Let's start with parking! New to visiting Portland we were worried when there was no street parking or a lot for the restaurant available. But, just down the street a half block is a pay and park lot that had plenty of room. We went for the 2-4PM happy hour for half priced dumplings. The order is 6 each and we ordered two, the King Pao chicken, which is fried, and the Shao Mai, which is steamed. Both were so excellent that we decided to order another set of the same! My honey also had the daily noodle soup, which was too hot for me but he loved it!
Very clean, casual dining and great wait staff. Food came quickly and tasted great!
