It was Portland's first snow, and my family and I decided to wander and shop the Congress Street area. We had eaten a late breakfast but at about 3:00 pm our stomachs started asking for food. I've wanted to go to BaoBao for awhile now but have always been thwarted by the wait/line. We figured a snowy afternoon might finally be a good time, and we are certainly glad with our decision.
We ordered and shared the Asian slaw which had delicious crispy scallions and peanuts on it, grandma Tang's pork buns (gorgeous doughy pillows), Kung Pao chicken fried dumplings, pork & scallion steamed dumplings, and sheng jian bao (soft pillows of ground pork). The slaw was brought out first followed by the other various dishes when prepared. Our selection of hot teas were smooth and favorable. Everything was delicious, service great, and quite honestly exceeded our expectations.
