We spent 3 nights at the Moorings Inn and were completely satisfied. The room was clean and well funished. The bed was VERY comfy. Our room "northern light" had beautiful views. In order to have the best stay you should know what this hotel is and isn't. It is a great place to wake up and have a cup of coffee (and an apple), sit by the water, shower and get going, come home, cook your own dinner and go to sleep.
It is not a destination in its self, a spa, or a place to lay around all day. The staff can meet most any request you may have but it is not luxurious or pampering. We wanted a warm comfortable, and pretty setting to return to after a day of walking around Bar Harbor or hiking Acadia and we got it. There are great places to eat within 5 minutes of the inn and the best lobster in the world 15 minutes away (the trenton bridge lobster pound). It's perfect for the more self-sufficient and exploring traveler and we will stay there again.More
