We were so happy during our stay at Seawall. We can't wait to go back. In planning the trip, we were impressed with the prices and the rave reviews. We were not disappointed when we arrived. The property is dated, but well maintained and quaint. The outdated decor in the rooms just added to the homey motel feeling. We were greeted by a warm welcome and then taken to our upstairs room. We thought the rooms were clean and well maintained and the shower, although needing of a facelift offered a fabulous hot shower after a day of hiking on a rainy day. The location is superb. We enjoyed the less touristy part of the park. It was so quiet and peaceful. A family of deer greeted us when we got there. The owners are so personable and we loved getting to know them and the other guests. A buffet breakfast in the morning offers enough to start your day of hiking off right. The highlight of our trip was the glorious sunrise right on the beach across the street. We were so fortunate to watch a stunning sunrise over the ocean AND a magnificent full moon set at the same time. That vision is forever etched in my mind as my favorite moment in Maine and it was all because we stayed at Seawall Motel. There is no need to get up super early to drive to see the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, instead just walk across the street to the people beach across the way. They will even prepare a carafe of hot coffee for your sunrise adventure. There is beautiful new house in front of the property that does impede the view from the first level of the property. I would request a second level room so you can enjoy the view. If luxury is what you are seeking, then the seaway will disappoint. However, if character, charm and locale are your interests then definitely stay at seawall. Short driving time to the lighthouse for a gorgeous sunset. Also there are awesome lobster restaurants a very short drive from the motel. There are several trails walking distance from the property.

Room tip: Second level will offer best view

I had stayed at this motel many years ago and had always remembered the beautiful location. Decided to stay again as I was travelling with someone who had never been to Mt Desert Island. The location is still beautiful BUT there is now a new two story "guest house" located directly across the parking lot and blocks most of the view from the motel. On top of that, the mattress was VERY hard and uncomfortable.....was so glad I did not stay longer. Yes, the owners are very nice BUT I'm sorry that instead of improving this motel they choose to build a high end guest house that I had no desire to look at.

Room tip: I had one of the "best" rooms on the upper level near the office....

We were there in mid-May. Not very busy yet. Got to have a great conversation with the owners. He told us about the area, places to go, places to eat... We only stayed 2 nights because we had rented a house, which wasn't ready. We were glad for the inconvenience, to have met a great couple. The ocean is just across the street. I went over a couple of times to photograph different tide levels. They also had apartment type of lodging.

Room tip: It is a 2 story motel. Best views would be from 2nd floor. Fridge & microwave are in a common room.

First of all, the location is superb, the views are terrific , it is an older motel looking good. We were thinking that this would be our new Acadia motel. The rooms are large, they have a nice continental breakfast in the morning, the wi-fi was good, the front porch had chairs for viewing the ocean, etc. But the beds - both my husband and I agreed that they were the worst beds we had slept in in ages! And sleeping was difficult! The mattresses were thin and hard as a rock, the sheets were small for the size of the bed (queen) and short, the blankets were thin. So unfortunately for us, we won't be back.
