Description: The approach to the Dockside Restaurant is all part of the Dockside’s charm. You are treated to views of the York River and the grand “summer cottages” as you turn onto Harris Island Road to reach Dockside Restaurant. The view is quintessential Maine, people hustling up and down the docks, gleaming yachts and colorful lobster boats in front of a rock and pine-tree shore. Dockside’s recent renovation is perfect, warm and comfortable. Hardwood floors, European style lighting floor to ceiling window and a new mahogany bar with an adjoining outdoor cocktail deck. During warm months seating is available on our harbor view screen porch. The atmosphere is casual but the food is serious. Chef Dennis la Planet has been recognized as a “chef’s chef”. North Atlantic seafood prepared with a northern Italian influence and aged steaks are just the start. Lunch features organic salads, creative sandwiches and traditional favorites; fish and chips, chowders and fried clams too.

We were looking for a Bloody Mary on a beautiful fall Sunday and this one came with an excellent view of York Harbor. We sat on the porch and ordered roasted eggplant flatbread, the prime rib sandwich with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish mayo and the smoked chicken salad that had raisins, sliced celery, red onion, green apple, and field greens tossed with vinaigrette topped with glazed pecans and gorgonzola cheese.

Service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. The bread basket is one of the best in the area with fresh baked savory brioche that was amazing.

I made reservations for my wife and I for an early start to her birthday month celebration. We were seated promptly by the hostess and our server came by shortly after we were seated. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. After ordering a bottle of wine we ordered an appetizer. We had some questions about a couple of items on the menu and she helped clarify as well as offered suggestions.
Dinner was great and we even had room for dessert.
We look forward to returning next season.

This place can accomodate family as well as large group.

The staff was particularly helpfull in finding a nice table.

A nice clam chowder for a rather cold day (end of septembre) and a reasoneable halibut.

My husband and I dined at the Dockside Restaurant recently, as we were staying at the Dockside Guest Quarters hotel located on the same property. The food was delicious and our waitress, Maddie, was terrific and very helpful. Hubby had the Clam Chowder and I had the French Onion Soup to start. Both were very good. My main meal was Harris Island Haddock, which was amazingly delicious. Probably the best fish dish I've ever eaten. Hubby also thoroughly enjoyed his fish dish, which I believe was a cod dish. The after dinner coffee drinks were very good as well. The prices are very reasonable for the portion size given. The ONLY NEGATIVE about the restaurant is that they reuse the cloth place mats immediately after customers leave. We don't know if this is common practice in restaurants, but it grossed us out, as we saw a gentleman who was obviously sick, hacking and blowing his nose, then putting the used tissues and handkerchief on the cloth place mat. Understand, when the bus person sets the table for the next customer, the glasses are put rim side down on the place mat. GROSS! We were in the restaurant for about 1 1/2 hours, so we saw tables being cleared and re-set several times, at all times reusing the place mats from the previous guest.
