The owners of this inn are Andy and Sue. Very nice people, and Andy is always willing to give you suggestions on where to go for site seeing and great places to dine. He also is happy to give you directions, where ever you want to go. Very helpful.
The location is very good. Close to beach and Kittery Outlets.
I believe Andy was trying to be helpful at Breakfast time, but came off as rushing us through our breakfast. When people are on vacation they like to relax and take a little extra time to have breakfast, and socialize. That is why some people do B and Bs.
This inn has a lot of old floral arrangements, and artificial plants. It is a lovely inn and they really don't need so much clutter.
I found our bed to be too soft, but some people may like their bed soft. We stayed in the Rose Cottage Room. Nice yard, make sure you see it at night.

Room Tip: The room that has a private entry, some may like. I liked the room w the private porch.

We appreciate this feedback. As former General Managers for an upscale restaurant company for many years, we may be a bit overly compulsive with our ingrained food service standards for immediate removal of plates. We were taught that it's tantamount to a sin to leave dirty plates sitting in front of folks. It's absolutely not our intention to rush anyone; we have plenty of extra clean plates and bowls always available in our dining room hutch for second helpings. While these guests were here, everyone stayed at the breakfast table both mornings and enjoyed lengthy and lively conversations.

If someone lets us know they'd prefer a firmer bed, the memory foam mattress toppers are easily removed at any time. Our high-end designer floral arrangements are clearly depicted in website photos and in our 360 degree virtual tours; and are consistent with both the inn's 1880's time period and decor, and apropos to the overall theme of the Cottage Rose Suite. This suite is one of our most popular and peaceful rooms, with Laura Ashley floral fabrics in shades of sea green and tea rose, reflecting the ambiance of a seaside cottage with its lighthouse mural in the adjoining sitting room, hand painted furniture, wicker, and quilts. Our online virtual tours literally let viewers peek into every nook and cranny of the inn, uniquely affording the opportunity to ensure that our decorating style is a pleasing match for whoever chooses to stay here... it is all a matter of individual personal preference.

We agree that our garden fairy lights are truly magical at night!

I was needing an alone trip, and this was the perfect place for me. Off the beaten path, and yet right near the ocean, and amenities. Very Courteous hosts, and knew the area, places to eat, shop, visit, and see. Extremely helpful. I would recommend this over any hotel, any day. I will be staying here again. The breakfasts, were not just toast, and cold eggs, they were adjusted to guests needs, and were awesome, and you didn't go away hungry !! I was able to have my afternoon Tea as well !!! Loved it !!

Room Tip: I was on the second floor....loved it !

Warm comfortable and inviting B&B! Breakfasts were delicious as were the homemade snacks available throughout the day! Andy was so knowledgeable about the area and helped us decide what to do each day. (Although we could have easily stayed in to enjoy our beautiful room!)It is obvious he loves what he does! Also our weekend package included dinner at a local restaurant that was awesome...so generous and delicious!! We highly recommend the Inn at Tanglewood Hall!

My fiancé and I stayed here for MLK holiday weekend. It is off season and most of the town is closed, but we couldn't have had a better time. Andy and Su are terrific. Andy gave us some awesome recommendations to do and Su gave us a great recommendation for a place to watch a playoff game. The home is an old New England Victorian but is charming and well decorated. Our room was comfortable and nicely appointed. They even made our bed (wasn't expecting service). The fairy lights in the driveway amazed us each night. Loved everything about this place and hope to return in the years to come.

We had the pleasure of staying in the York Harbor Suite at The Inn at Tanglewood Hall last summer. This is an historic home near the ocean in a York Harbor, a gorgeous and peaceful little town a couple hours north of Boston. Andy had the most creative & delicious breakfasts each day! Eggs on a cloud, French toast stuffed with fresh berries, Mediterranean frittata. He just smiled as he presented each morning's delights so we could tell he really enjoyed what he was doing. He also helped us plan our days with plenty of maps and information on the area. We appreciated that Andy & Su did a good job of welcoming us while also respecting our privacy. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Get the suite if you can swing it! It was a splurge for our anniversary trip and worth it!
