We enjoyed a wonderful (late) lunch, outside, on the terrace. Friendly, knowledgeable wait-staff, and excellent, diverse menu. My husband raved about the Chef's famous snapping turtle soup, (Be sure to add more Sherry to your bowl) and he was totally in-awe of his crab cakes, claiming, "These are the best crab cakes EVER!!!" (We are from Coastal VA, so we know our crab cakes!!) I had a fresh salmon sandwich that literally melted in my mouth. Excellent lunch!! We shall return, very soon!

For several months I have been choosing to eat at the Tidwater Inn at the Hunters tavern. Food is good- service has improved so much that the diner has nothing to complain about. Now that is something to celebrate

Thank Truffie

Hunters’ Tavern is the house owned and operated dining room, located in Easton’s Tidewater Inn. The overall ambience is decidedly tavern style, with a strong presence of darkish polished wood and glistening glass. The effect is one of clean, modern lines. To some, the downside of this approach is that it produces a LOUD room. We were one of two parties in the dining room at dinner, and the sound-carrying effect made the other’s conversation almost audible diagonally across the entire room.

We were expertly cared for by our server, Becky, who was most pleasant and helpful. Mrs Too ordered a bowl of pasta with a sauce of Cajun styled shrimp, and pronounced it superb. Ben, ever and always a sucker for lamb, decided on the roast loin, a most welcome change from loin chops, or rack of rib chops. Daniel Pochron would make Ben’s culinary hall of fame for his roast loin over a bed of country ham, peas, and cheese ravioli, with a house-made sauce. Both grillmaster and saucier extra ordinaire, he works a miracle with lamb, whereas many, many other chefs won’t even attempt it. Ben only regrets that his bad case of DOBS (date of birth syndrome) prevented his ability to finish the masterpiece.

It goes without saying that we were back in the Hunter’s Tavern for breakfast come morning. Breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a happy hour are all offered. Covered outdoor seating is available, with a huge brick fireplace standing by for cooler days or evenings.

We have been eating there more than 40 years and have never have a bad meal. Their crab cakes are absolutely the best on the Eastern Shore or anywhere else for that matter.

My husband and I were in Easton for the weekend and decided to give this restaurant a try. It was a beautiful Saturday evening and we had no wait at all being seated in a lovely garden patio area. We had the best of both worlds in that our table was quite privately situated under a tree but we could look out on the bustling street and watch the people. The waiter was friendly and very attentive. We both ordered surf and turf, a fork tender beautifully prepared tenderloin and crab cake with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The plates were beautifully presented and everything was absolutely delicious. The only complaint we had was the flies which were quite persistent and we chose to sit outside.
