Had two dinners in two days, as this is the nearest restaurant to the Carroll Hospital where my daughter was a patient. The crab cakes are EXCELLENT. In fact, all of the food my family ordered was considered very good or excellent. The service for one dinner was simply terrible, and for the second dinner was average. Water was never refilled at either meal. There is a bar, and on the first night a couple that could hardly walk upright, and had clearly been overserved, were leaving to drive their car. So, for the food, this should be an excellent restaurant. But the service and the overserving bring it down to average.

We came to a late dinner (9pm) after watching our college senior perform in a chorus concert. Many other restaurants are closed this late on a Sunday night. We wanted something light and wanted to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. We had been here before, and had a good experience, so knew that the restaurant is a converted house with a large bar crowd, but good seafood and famous chowder. They had run out of chowder, so two of us opted for some appetizers as meals. The food was very good. Our waiter was charming and did his best to check in on us while we waited, and waited, for our food. There were only a few patrons, so it was not the waitstaff's issue. I asked for some bread, because one of us had ordered a meal, and we were all hungry. So the good news is that it was baked fresh for us, but again, we waited.

Our party of 4 arrived on a warm April evening and requested outside seating, and the hostess offered us the "smoker's patio," which was fine, since there weren't any smokers out there. It took 15 minutes for our waiter to arrive to get drink orders, and we should've known better given the wait just for drink orders. He brought our drinks and said he'd be "right back." If "right back" meant less than 1/2 an hour, he lied. It was 32 minutes to put in a food order, then another 26 minutes for the food to arrive. Oh... And, at some point, the fountain Coke ran out and he said he'd be right back... But never brought another Coke. EVER. At some point he complained to us that he had too many tables.

The food was good, but, for a first time experience, we will never go back.

We had 8 ladies at this restaurant for a luncheon. The food was good but one of the ladies had to wait over 10 minutes after the rest of us were served. She ordered the crab quiche. One of the other ladies also ordered the quiche and it came out at the same time as the other entrees. I don’t know why they couldn’t serve all the entrees at the same time

Without reservations and arriving late at the Gypsy's Tea Room, we were informed that they only had 2 food selections left and was closing in 2 hours. We decided to look for another eating venue and Maggie's Restaurant became our Option B.

Maggie's Restaurant is located about 5 minutes away from our first choice. The Bar Area was a little noisy for us so we requested to be seated at the Dining Area.

Our orders included quiche made of crabs, hamburgers and drinks. The quiche with spinach salad is $13.99 and $10.99 if without this salad.

My spinach salad was delicious and freshly made. Crab quiche was cheesy and with big pieces of crabmeat at the bottom. My friends informed me that their foods were also tasty and delicious as well.

Ambience and Parking: There was ample free parking spaces when we arrived. At the entrance, hats, shirts, etc. for sale are on display. The Bar and other tables are located after the entrance while the Dining Area is located in a "secluded" area to left side of the Bar. Decorations are outdated and appearance of cleanliness is so-so.

We might stop by and dine at this restaurant again when we're in the area and try their other dishes.
