This was my 2’nd stay at The Boston Inn.

You realize The Boston Inn is unique when you check in and are given a hospitality bag. This time the bag contained samples of about 10 products from snack-size candy bars, to peanut butter, to Emergen-C. It’s an eclectic mix. The bag had completely different products last time. It’s fun wondering what’ll be in it. (There’s no shampoo in the room, so it’s best to pack some -- there wasn’t any in the hospitality bag on my first stay, but there was this time.)

The hotel was built in the 60’s. It’s been updated along the way. The furniture in the room is wood veneer. It all matches and is in very good condition. The chairs, bedspread, and drapes are attractive. My room had a table with two chairs, a desk/vanity, dresser, two nightstands, a double bed (with nice thick pillows), a comfortable recliner, a refrigerator, and a microwave. There were plenty of working lamps.

If there’s any disappointment, it’s in the bathroom. The bath towels are small and thin. And, the shower lacks power. The bathroom is fairly small, but not remarkably so. There is a hairdryer
.
The grounds of The Boston Inn are pretty, expansive, and well maintained. There are a couple of round metal picnic tables. I didn’t have time to visit the outdoor pool, but it appeared clean and attractive with plenty of chairs.

The biggest change since my last visit is that the televisions have been replaced with nice widescreen LCD HDTV’s! There’s even a Dell PC connected to the TV. So, it’s possible to access the internet using the television. You can use the PC to play DVD’s on the television. (There are a couple of software options loaded. Windows Media Player seemed to work best.) There’s also an easily accessed wireless network. There’s no extra charge for using the PC or the wireless access. Might be some entertainment options I didn’t access that have an additional fee.

The hotel’s location is convenient, and there’s lots of dining and shopping within a mile. I believe this is the only hotel in Westminster that accepts pets, and the large lawn in front of the hotel makes it a wonderful place for dogs.

I like The Boston Inn. It’s a nice friendly moderately priced hotel. While I wouldn’t plan a vacation here, it’s a fine place to spend a few nights.

On a possitive not they allow pets.
However while walking my dog i found a used drug needle
in the grass. We notified the office.
Over night the police came to the door two doors down. the next
morning we found a crack pipe at the front of our tire as well as a bowl.
The room was clean
Walls were thin. The people next door coughed all night long.

Its a small town and I guess they let locals rent rooms.

We didn't have anywhere else to stay - there are 3 hotels in this area (Best Western, Days Inn, and the Boston Inn). Everything else was booked. Our room at the Boston Inn DID NOT have a hair dryer, clock, shampoo, or conditioner. The pillows were flat and our bathroom did not have enough towels and washcloths for all of us. When we went to the front desk to get two more sets of towels, they said they were washing them. This is a drive up to your door motel. We went to the pool and there were pick-up trucks backed up to the pool area with their tailgates down having a beer party and beer drinkers at the pool. If you like to party, drink beer, smoke, and stay up all night and don't care about your accommodations, this is the place for you to stay. We couldn't wait to leave and will not stay here again.

After reading this comment, I interviewed the desk clerks on duty that day. They never had a complaint from a customer of this nature and I was never contacted with one. We are a family/american owned property working hard for our customers. Our laundry is done in house with connecting door to the office. We always have linens and towells in excess and gladly give out extras to all customers. We were sold out on the 4th of July and had no other complaints of this nature.

Our family of three stayed at The Boston Inn while attending a wedding of a close friend. We were booked for a stay of two weekend nights. Arriving late Friday night, we went right to bed. Saturday morning we went out for breakfast and spent time browsing around the area. When we came back to our room at one, we prepared for the wedding while our son took a brief nap. He awoke to have been bitten by a tick and found another one on him. We called to notify the front desk at that time, but had to leave for the wedding. Upon returning at 6:30 we stopped to tell them we would be leaving and asked to be refunded the night we did not stay due to the ticks. (They offered to give us a can of spray to use in our room) The desk clerk contacted the owner who declined to refund our prepaid stay. After returning home, I discovered three bites on my own body. If you are planning on staying at the Boston Inn, check the room for ticks before you go to bed. I wouldn't advise staying there. It is below par in cleanliness, and it definitely needs updated along with some upscale pest control.

As the owner of the property in question, I would respectfully submit that our property has a large well groomed lawn and the rooms are kept clean. The "tic" person didn't write that they brought the family dog with them and that the management on duty that night offered to move them to another room. If the dog had been walked in the proper places, it could have easily gotten tics from the lawn or trees that surround the property. The dog or the people could have brought the tics into our room. As a routine, we have a very good pest control company treat our rooms on a monthly basis. Our property is not new but we take pride in it and our staff works hard to keep things nice.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Built in the 1960's as lee's motel the hotel was the only hotel in the area. Starting out as only 20 rooms we have grown over the years to a 118 room property with a large outdoor swimming pool. The hotel was bought in 1992 and the name was changed to the Boston Inn. Many changes have been made through out the years to keep up with the modern times but the property still keeps its older "traditional" mom and pop Inn feel. We recently added LCD HD T.V's to all our rooms as well as a Dell desktop computer and free wireless internet through out the property.Very convenient to McDaniel College, Carroll County Farm Museum, Carroll County Ag Center, and Union Mills Homestead. We are about 30 minutes from Owings Mills, Reisterstown, and Frederick, and about 45 minutes from Baltimore, and Gettysburg. ... more   less
