This was my 2’nd stay at The Boston Inn.
You realize The Boston Inn is unique when you check in and are given a hospitality bag. This time the bag contained samples of about 10 products from snack-size candy bars, to peanut butter, to Emergen-C. It’s an eclectic mix. The bag had completely different products last time. It’s fun wondering what’ll be in it. (There’s no shampoo in the room, so it’s best to pack some -- there wasn’t any in the hospitality bag on my first stay, but there was this time.)
The hotel was built in the 60’s. It’s been updated along the way. The furniture in the room is wood veneer. It all matches and is in very good condition. The chairs, bedspread, and drapes are attractive. My room had a table with two chairs, a desk/vanity, dresser, two nightstands, a double bed (with nice thick pillows), a comfortable recliner, a refrigerator, and a microwave. There were plenty of working lamps.
If there’s any disappointment, it’s in the bathroom. The bath towels are small and thin. And, the shower lacks power. The bathroom is fairly small, but not remarkably so. There is a hairdryer
The grounds of The Boston Inn are pretty, expansive, and well maintained. There are a couple of round metal picnic tables. I didn’t have time to visit the outdoor pool, but it appeared clean and attractive with plenty of chairs.
The biggest change since my last visit is that the televisions have been replaced with nice widescreen LCD HDTV’s! There’s even a Dell PC connected to the TV. So, it’s possible to access the internet using the television. You can use the PC to play DVD’s on the television. (There are a couple of software options loaded. Windows Media Player seemed to work best.) There’s also an easily accessed wireless network. There’s no extra charge for using the PC or the wireless access. Might be some entertainment options I didn’t access that have an additional fee.
The hotel’s location is convenient, and there’s lots of dining and shopping within a mile. I believe this is the only hotel in Westminster that accepts pets, and the large lawn in front of the hotel makes it a wonderful place for dogs.
I like The Boston Inn. It’s a nice friendly moderately priced hotel. While I wouldn’t plan a vacation here, it’s a fine place to spend a few nights.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Built in the 1960's as lee's motel the hotel was the only hotel in the area. Starting out as only 20 rooms we have grown over the years to a 118 room property with a large outdoor swimming pool. The hotel was bought in 1992 and the name was changed to the Boston Inn. Many changes have been made through out the years to keep up with the modern times but the property still keeps its older "traditional" mom and pop Inn feel. We recently added LCD HD T.V's to all our rooms as well as a Dell desktop computer and free wireless internet through out the property.Very convenient to McDaniel College, Carroll County Farm Museum, Carroll County Ag Center, and Union Mills Homestead. We are about 30 minutes from Owings Mills, Reisterstown, and Frederick, and about 45 minutes from Baltimore, and Gettysburg. ... more less
