We stayed here for 3 days 2 nights in the middle of the week and we loved it. Small cozy eco hotel with four rooms, private beach, tidy dining area and amazing lounge area.
Every room faces the ocean, you get a nice cool breeze, but I wont suggest staying in there without the fan being on!
We booked via tripadvisor-booking.com, I recommend contacting them directly.
Bring cash, in pesos preferably. There's no ATM and currency exchange as you would know has an extra fee.
The hotel is near an amazing pizza place, a short 10 min walk from main town *small along the beach town.

We'll be coming back.

Room tip: All rooms face the ocean!

What a relaxing stay! Too relaxing and we didn't want to leave. Went to celebrate our wedding anniversary for 4 days/3 nights. Booked via bookings.com. Had to cancel first night reservation as a storm was approaching. Seamless cancellation process and host was very understanding. Very small hotel with only 4 rooms (we were very fortunate to be 1 of 2 guests). Sufficient, not crowded room. Comfy bed, table/desk, night stand, closet area, shower (yes hot water, a coveted luxury when you live and work in DR). Light, satisfying breakfast was included. Small restaurant & bar, and attentive host catered to your lunch or dinner needs. Immaculate grounds. There are a few places nearby to eat (Paradise Hotel Restaurant & a pizza place nearby that delivers). Not much else to do, but sit by the beach, sleep and eat.

Our family stayed in three of the four rooms. This was an ideal place to stay. Silvia was the perfect host. The hotel is clean and quiet and it feels like you are all alone on this beautiful beach. We had dinner there right on the beach. The food was fantastic including they made vegan good on request. The hotel is off grid, powered by both wind and solar. A truly fantastic experience. Thank you, Silvia!

Bring cash. They don't accept credit cards yet.

This is my third time to Punta Rucia but the first time at this hotel. On this trip, I came with a friend who was visiting from outside the country. The proprietors Fran and Silvia greeted us upon arrival with a welcoming and calm demeanor and we ended up having a nice conversation with them for about a half hour. Silvia set up our excursion to Cayo Arena, early the next day with a knowledgeable guide and boat with snorkeling equipment which was outstanding. The amount of fish, colors and coral life is surreal and a must-see and the reason to come to this part of the country. We had the boat to ourselves and could leave when ever we wanted which is a nice perk. The excursion included a nice assortment of local fruit and water. We stayed for three hours and the cost was less than 100 dollars for the two of us. We were happily surprised the hotel didn't take a cut in the price of the excursion even thought they set-up the appointment.
The hotel room was clean and queen beds comfortable although some people may be a bit warm without A/C but for the excellent price of the room, one cannot complain. The hotel runs on solar and wind power so I wouldn't expect this to change in the near future. There was hot water and I slept very comfortably with the overhead fan and the large screen doors providing a breeze. The breakfast which is included was nice with fruit, bread and butter with preserves and your choice of coffee or tea. We both ordered tea which came in two small japanese style iron tea kettles, was a nice touch.
The night we arrived we walked down the road and found a Pizza restaurant that Silvia recommended. Amazing pizza with the quality ingredients made by the owner who is an Ex-pat Italian, served on the beach. The pizza was so good, I believe we talked as much about the pizza as we did the excursion to Cayo Arena.
Conclusion: The best bang for your buck trip I've found on the Dominican Republic. Adventure seekers, nature lovers and travelers on a tight budget will all love.

Room tip: The hotel has 4 rooms. There is one large room with two queen beds which is perfect for a family or to spit between friends.
