The hotel stands in lovely grounds and is in walking distance of the High Street in Falmouth and the ocean. However it is jaded and needs a refurbishment. The staff are friendly and service was good at breakfast.
This hotel/motel is conveniently located for the main street in Falmouth and provided reasonable facilities. The rooms have most things you'd want - hair dryer, fridge, microwave, king-sized bed(s), shower, WiFi, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful and they had a nice welcome drink and pickings. The breakfast (included in our particular tour) was plentiful and varied, and the restaurant staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful.
On the negative side, the overall décor was a little "tired" and there was no room safe. Also as the WiFi had no password, it was insecure and should be used with caution.
A negative for Falmouth, rather than the hotel, was the lack of a supermarket anywhere near the main street. It was a 15 -20 min walk to the nearest place to get provisions.
Good Stop If Going To Martha’s Vineyard
Stayed here for 3 nights and it is a bit old fashioned and the bathroom could do with modernising but the rooms are clean and very large; we had a king room which also had a sofa, table and chairs, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer. Not much in the way of toiletries only some soap and shampoo. The breakfast was included and was OK and is served in the building with the indoor pool and the staff are very friendly.
The grounds are lovely and there is an outdoor pool (summer) and indoor pool. The location is within walking distance to the waterfront and shops/restaurants in Falmouth. We also walked to the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard which was only around 10-15 minutes up the road and the tickets were $20 per adult ($19 if booked from hotel reception).
Cons – no in-room safe; although reception will place a security pouch in the safe for you.
We did realise after a day that we had the setting on the lock incorrect on the door and anybody could have walked in during the night without using a key so I think better locks or instructions would be advisable.
We were staying as part of a group but it felt like a family holiday. We were all late arriving but the staff were there with drinks, snacks and a big welcome. The rooms were massive and very well fitted. Service at breakfast was really friendly and the food was of reasonable quality for the prices. All through the stay all staff were very helpful and waved us off with bags of home made cookies!
This Inn is a motel rather than a hotel which wasn't really clear to us when we booked via our agent. That said this hasn't shape our review in any way.
Our room was on the 2nd floor which with two very large suitcases and no elevator was not a welcome prospect. The room itself was quite dated and in need of some modernisation. The size and layout of the room was fine.
We (as were others we noticed) struggled to lock the door to our room when leaving and there were no instructions available. It would be all to easy to have assumed that on shutting the door it was locked from the outside but this wasn't the case.
The Inn is very conveniently located close to Main St which contains a large number of bars, restaurants and shops. The ferry terminal for Martha's Vineyard is a 15 to 20 minute walk down the road, so again quite handy.
The staff we met were very polite and helpful.
