If you’re into cockroaches, mold, soap scum and other people’s hair…
This place was terrible from the moment we arrived.
Check-in was fine, but when we got to the room, it was not anything like the photos online.. I booked the jacuzzi suite directly from the Wyndham website. I went to the front desk, and told the clerk that the room didn’t match the description. My print out actually had a picture of the room. He looked it up on the website, and said they don’t have any rooms like that-it’s a cropped picture of 2 different rooms, making it look like one large room. Umm, ok, maybe that should be updated?!?! Very misleading. (The photo shows a jacuzzi and a sofa)
Against my better judgement, we decided to give it a try.
It was late when we arrived, so we thought maybe we’d use the jacuzzi-but it was so filthy! Disgusting to even touch-soap scum caked on the entire inside of it. We were tired, went to bed (a little concerned by the holes in the bed skirt) hoping the room would be cleaned in the morning. Not the case.
Breakfast did not look appetizing-pre-made cheese sauce omelets and sausage patties. I grabbed some coffee and yogurt to take back to the room. Coffee was fine, but then realized the yogurt had expired a week ago. Who needs breakfast anyway??
In a room like this, one simply does not walk around without shoes-which was a huge relief- as I stepped on a large cockroach on my way out of the bathroom. I left it on the floor-assuming the maid would take care of it.
I truly hoped the cleaning staff would clean the jacuzzi and take care of the cockroach carcass-but nope. Came back and tub was just as disgusting as it was when we left. The cockroach carcass was removed, but the brown stain of guts remained on the floor.
I’m still questioning why we stayed, the second night…Needless to say, we were gone by 6am, with no second attempt at breakfast.
We briefly thought about using the pool, but that had not been cleaned either. Lots of junk in the bottom. The Wifi is also rather spotty, but we weren't really there long enough for it to make much of a difference.
Other reviews say the location is great-let me just tell you that you will pass many other hotels in either direction when you’re coming to this one. Our recommendation is to drive right by the Howard Johnson.
The only positive thing I can say about this place, is that they have some nice outdoor furniture. It’s great to sit in and watch the traffic speed by!
The room was clean. Breakfast was poor. Little/poor choice and table was in the office. Hotel/room seemed old, no wifi.
Booked in advance a smoking room.was informed that this hotel was non smoking. Very disappointed.
