Read somewhere that this was a gem of a place. So today, on a lazy Saturday, we decided to make the 45-minute drive there for breakfast. We arrived after 11 a.m. and we're happy to find they were still serving breakfast. We placed our order at the front counter and then made our way to the back of the store where there is an eclectic mix of beautiful old wooden tables and chairs in a lovely cozy space. The weather was nice enough that we could have eaten outside on the deck overlooking the little brook, but we chose to sit inside at a sunny corner table instead. Our scrambled eggs-bacon-herb-roasted potatoes-and-toast breakfast was delivered to our table in short order, and it was delicious...potatoes especially! Coffee was really good, too. I must add that everything is ala carte, and it adds up fast. But with the charm of the place, we didn't much care. We poked around the general store and grabbed a brownie for the road. For brownie lovers, this one missed the mark. But there were lots of other baked goods to choose from that I'm sure are delicious. We'll definitely be back...and probably for lunch outside on the deck. Worth the leisurely drive on a laid-back day!
