Circuit Avenue is the strip to walk for shopping, restaurants, ice cream, fudge spots and bars. It's a touristy area of Martha's Vineyard.

If you want to get a friend or family member or yourself a memento from Martha's Vineyard, this is the street to do your shopping. Parking is at a premium. So go early. Parking is for 1 hour and they will mark your tire with chalk. So dont push this hour limit

If you do any shopping while visiting Oak Bluffs, you will definitely find yourself almost exclusively on Circuit Ave. If you require a pick-me-up, the street is lined with ice cream parlors. You'll also find plenty of T-shirts and souvenirs...

If you are going to take the time to get to Martha's Vineyard, Oak Bluff is not the draw. Circuit Avenue is sort of the heart of Oak Bluff. It's nice, but it is just average. The streets are plain with traditional gray clapboard buildings. I would not use the word charming to describe this street and the shops along it. You can get these same type of shops and looks in Hyannis, Chatham, Falmouth and other Cape towns.

The main draw for this part of town is the Ferry system. Loads of people get off the Ferry and this shopping area is right around the corner. I would rather rent a car or get on a bus and head to Aquinnah or Edgartown rather than spend time on Circuit Avenue.

That said, we did spend about an hour going up an down this street while waiting for the Ferry to leave at 7:00 PM. We went into the Flying Horse Carousel and watched people snagging rings as it went around. We tried ice cream at Mad Martha's.

The bottom line for me is that it's a commitment to get to the Island of Martha's Vineyard. Why go here to a place that can be repeated in just about any town on the mainland.
