Each dish was interesting at sarma - full of flavor. Highlights were the scallop grape leaves and feta gnocchi for sure. The cocktails are delicious. We actually didn't have reservations but you can get full service if you sit at the bar. Would highly recommend.

This crowded and very popular restaurant serves small plates, sort of a Turkish/Moroccan version of tapas. There were four of us and we shared about 12 plates in all. The wait staff are eager to help. Everything was tasty and delicious. The restaurant has a full bar. Since Sarma is in a residential neighborhood, parking is a little tricky, although they do use the Library parking lot a few blocks away during evening hours. Reservations are a must or you will wait.

Tonight the service was bad, everything was extremely slow, they forgot dishes we ordered, and also, the kitchen was out of ALL fish+sea food and more (we were informed 25 min after making these orders).
Still, there are some phenomenal dishes. (And great alcohol).

This has got to be one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in the Boston area. It is unexpected in so many ways. First, the location-random! I'm not even sure the neighborhood has a specific name other than Winter Hill. You won't be able to go next door for a bite or drink while you wait for your table, so stay near the bar where the bartenders pay close attention to new arrivals, serve amazing cocktails while you wait, and help seat new customers as they arrive (they are outstanding at knowing who is next to get a seat!). One tip-unless you like spontaneity and waiting, book a reservation in advance. Weekends book up months in advance!

Knowing this could be a long review, I'll summarize with bullets:
-Menu changes frequently to reflect what is fresh and seasonably available. In addition, it has enough items on it that you can always try something you haven't tried before. This means your experience is different every time you go.
-Chef's passed small plates: means there is always an interesting option (or many) to try
-Taste and presentation: unrivaled. Turkish-influenced dishes, enough for vegetarians and meat eaters alike
-Raki. The "white lion" of Turkey. Served in genuine elikeyf, frozen ice ring and all. What a pleasant experience to end the meal.
-Staff-so pleasant. Really love the bar staff. They'll ask people to move in order to find 2 seats together. Imagine if all restaurants did that? Nothing more annoying than having to wait for seats when there are empty seats, but people unwilling to move in between.
-Reputation-of the chef, owner and staff. Top-notch.

Price is a bit on the higher end, especially if you tend to want to try a lot of dishes or if you have a big appetite. But worth it. So worth it.

I am certainly glad we tried Sarma but we most likely won't return. The meal was very pricey. It wasn't that the food wasn't decent but we spent $140 for two people (no alcohol). Again, most of the food was good but not everything we tried (some things were average). Also to be honest, our waiter was rather aloof and appeared disinterested--if I'm paying that much for a meal i expect provide excellent service.
