Owner description: Open year round, Castle Farms is one of Northern Michigan's top historic attractions, as well as one of the Midwest's premier wedding venues. Visitors can stroll throughout the magnificent stone buildings dating back to 1918, and enjoy gorgeous gardens. A variety of museum quality collections featuring castles, antique toys, and royalty memorabilia from around the world are displayed throughout the buildings. The Castle's 1918 Museum showcases items from that time era, plus World War I memorabilia. Children delight in feeding the huge rainbow trout swimming in the Reflection Pond, playing a game of giant chess, or hide-and-seek with the fairies and gnomes dwelling in the Enchanted Forest. Our Self-Guided Tours offer Scavenger Hunt tours for children, too! Everyone loves The Castle's Garden Railroad; with more than 1/2 mile of track and 68 G-scale trains, it's one of the largest in the State. Listed on both the National and State Historic Registries, Castle Farms is a world-class historic property where old world charm and modern-day elegance enchant visitors of all ages.

My wife and I spent around two ours in the self paced tour of the place.. We had a wonderful time exploring the castle although the rail way station model wasn't working.

We are so happy to hear that you had fun on your self-guided tour! Our outdoor model railroad is typically up and running from Memorial Day to Labor Day since Michigan weather is a bit unpredictable. Feel free to come by again to see the trains now that they are going!

What a beautiful and remarkable place. I cannot wait to be in my sister's wedding at Castle Farms. We walked around and just enjoyed every bit of being there.

We purposefully visited during the off season and experienced a self guided tour. The Castle is filled with interesting history and amazing memories! We were able to take our time on the things that are interested us and move on quickly from areas that we were not as interested in during our tour. The staff was amazing and treated us like royalty! We highly recommend this rich piece of history when visiting the Charlevoix area ... you will not be disappointed!

We showed up around 3 and it closes at 4 but they didn’t give us any trouble. The walking tour was great. There were pictures showing what it looked like in the past and some cool photo ops. I could see why people like getting married here. When we were done with the tour we asked the front desk questions even though it was past four and she was very kind and not annoyed with us. Could have used more than an hour for the walking tour.

We had a little extra time on our 25th Anniversary Road Trip from Florida to Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel and on a whim, we decided to stop at CASTLE FARMS. No regrets!!!

WHOA! Originally built in 1918, this Castle is a GEM now that so much work -- and love -- went into rescuing the Castle from its dilapidated state. Don’t miss the video they show – very informative.

We loved the railroad display – it’s quite unique!

There are many venues for weddings and, if we were going to get married again – it would be HERE!
