To the southwest, the CASINO/hotel is located within an area that has done an excellent job in revitalizing itself. It's just a .7 mile walk to the ballpark and downstairs is the casino. service personnel we fantastic! everyone was extremely polite and went out of their way to make things easier. I know that's their job, but it's always nice to see folks go the extra mile. No smoking room available for those non-smokers in the casino. However....of one calls 2 weeks before arrival and don't have a corporate code, the room rate is high....$500.

Room Tip: Have a coupon or corporate number.....

Let me say this is a VIP feel of a hotel. Free valet parking greets you to begin with. The front desk employees were very friendly at check-in. You get a very secure feel as there is a doorman before you get to the elevators.
Our room was spotless and for a standard room, very specious. There is a safe in the closet. The bed has light switches for accent lights. There is two plugs on both sides of the bed. At the door is dimmer lights for the room as well.
Two sinks in the bathroom with good lighting. There is a privacy second door in the bathroom for the toilet. Very nice amenities in the bathroom too.
Just a very nice upscale hotel and I will stay there again.
You wouldn't know there is a casino there unless you walk around the corner.

Room Tip: Our 1026 room had a great view.

This hotel is situated in downtown Detroit. It has a magnificent inside and a large parking lot. People have to show their ID in order to get into the casino. Many people can eat in a nice scenic place

I hate to have one thing about a hotel just ruin it for you,but that is what happened at the MGM Grand Detroit. After paying premium for the hotel, I set my expectations for at least above average experience. The hotel itself and cleanliness were fine...maybe not worth $400 for a night but acceptable. Then when leaving at 6am on Sunday with very few other guests getting it took over 30 minutes to have the car bought out. We repeatedly asked about it and were brushed off ...”it’s on its way.” After everyone who came after us got their cars, the truth was revealed....they had misplaced the car. Need to tell the truth from the beginning. Ultimately the car was found but when catching a flight you don’t build in 30 minutes for valet. I’ll just stay somewhere else on my next visit.

Dear Tonysanchz:

While we are certainly pleased you enjoyed your time at MGM Grand Detroit, we are disheartened to learn your interactions at our valet area greatly detracted from your generally very positive impressions. Rest certain, these experiences you describe are most definitely anomalous, and undoubtedly uncharacteristic of our usually timely service. We will aggressively address this matter, and encourage you to reconsider your view on our establishment. Your patronage and total satisfaction are sincerely important to us, so we anxiously await the opportunity to renew your faith in MGM Grand Detroit.

Sincerely,

Seth L.
