We stayed the last week in July with 3 other couples.
The hotel had some staff shortages but got us checked in and in our rooms.
Our rooms were nice, kind of like a basic older Hampton. Beds, pillows and blankets were clean and comfortable. We had a small fridge. No microwave, there's a microwave and toaster down in the lobby. We got a room on the first floor because they do not have elevators. There are two floors.
There is no free breakfast but they do have coffee in the lobby. I like strong coffee and it was pretty weak by my standards. Same with the restaurant. We went to the restaurant once for breakfast and it was good but a little pricey for a basic breakfast at about 12 to 15 for most breakfasts. My wife ordered a breakfast bowl special that said it had a "side" of sausage gravy. It came smothered in gravy and they didn't do anything about it so that was disappointing.
We had between a $25 and $35 drink credit at "Bikini's", the beach grill and bar. We stopped in there every day and used our credit - use it or lose it! Try the top-shelf Long Island Ice Tea or their RumRunners. Top shelf gets pricy, but they were good. We had food there too which was good.
They rake the beach every day and the beach is great! It stays shallow for quite a ways out so even though it's Lake Huron (Tawas Bay), it's not freezing. I liked it. They have beach chairs or you can put your own on the grass. There's a hut that rents paddle boards and wave runners. Very nice.
They also have an indoor pool and hot tub that was excellent. Clean and well kept.
The hotel is very kid friendly so it is not a adult-only getaway. We brought bikes because there are nice trails in the area. Also good golfing.
The only reason they didn't get a 5 star from me is that the hotel is a beach hotel not a beach resort. They have some resort features but the rooms are not resort level. To me, a resort has a next level of accommodation.
We would return.
