I stayed at La Casa on Oct. 8, 2004. I was traveling back from purchasing a car on Ebay further north with a friend - two 46-year-old white females - and we were thrilled.
The room was laid out perfectly - there was an ice machine on every floor and we had a quiet and peaceful night. We loved the balcony (smoking room) and the amenities such as hair dryer, shampoo and body lotion. They even had a safe in the room. We only paid $67.00 and some change including tax and they provided a free breakfast of two eggs and your choice of bacon or sausage. We were delighted with the southern-style menu as we are southern girls. In addition, we ordered grits and toast and catfish! It was all wonderful - cooked perfectly to order.
We did not even have to stop for another meal going back down south (Dayton).
Everyone was polite and accomodating - it was clean but not posh - we were not looking for posh on our budget.
This is not the place for you if you are accustomed to 4-star hotels. But if you are tired of the chains and their limited interest in pleasing patrons and if you are on a budget, I can't recommend it more highly.
We were also impressed with the fact that they had a noon checkout and advised that accomodations could be made if one needed a...I stayed at La Casa on Oct. 8, 2004. We were also impressed with the fact that they had a noon checkout and advised that accomodations could be made if one needed a later checkout. Although we were not checking in late or leaving late, we have traveled enough to know that this was something that is often very desirable.
Do not miss the breakfast. These are people who can cook and can cook southern. If you are looking for stale Danish and plain bagels with fat-free cream cheese, don't bother. Go somewhere else and do everybody a favor.
