We were looking for a good Indian that had some basic American fare for one person in our party. All of our dishes were delicious and the cook made some tasty basic chicken kabob for our unadventurous friend. Very nice evening! We will be back when we are in town.
My wife was wanting curry, and since we live in Livonia we decided to go to Raj Palace, newly opened in the summer of 2016, we had not experienced this Indian restaurant. The ambiance is nice subdued lighting, clean earth tones, with a few Indian portrait paintings and wall hangings. We started with Samosas, two potato, onion, pea, spiced pastries; served with a mint, pepper chutney that had a nice heat level, and a sweet tamarind sauce. For entrees we chose a minced lamb curry, and Chicken Biryani; both with medium heat. The lamb curry was a red curry with basmati rice it had a nice heat level and was very tasty, and enough for two servings easily. The Chicken Biryani was excellent, flavored with cardamom it was accompanied with Raita, a thin cucumber/vegetable/herb sauce, and Naan bread, warm and yummy. The portions are huge, the service is friendly and knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions, and the prices are very reasonable.
