LOCATION A+: motel located on beautiful Lake Huron with perfect view of Mackinac Bridge...Old Mackinac lighthouse just to left of Motel property and nice little park is located to it's right. Mackinaw island can also be seen from motel. Mom n pops Party store right across street. Darrows (family style) restaurant was close by which had great food, was very clean & decorated with cool nautical theme. Main Street souvenir/fudge shops, restaurants & Sheplers Ferry to Mackinaw island very close. Free shuttle to sheplers comes by motel if you choose to use it. Anywhere you want to go to is but a 5 minute drive away or could be walked/biked.
MOTEL STYLE: vintage/retro 60's/70's style building but very well maintained & kept up. Immaculate grounds and quaint landscaping & flowers throughout property.
INTERIOR OF ROOMS: Very CLEAN and FRESH smelling. Our room (209) had windows on each side of room which when left open allowed a pleasant lake breeze to blow through. Bedding, carpet & drapes could use an update but that would have to be my only complaint. Mattresses were just OK. Bathrooms had vintage feel but VERY CLEAN. Little window in shower was fun to look out & listen to birds singing in morning as I showered. Little window added to freshness of bathroom. Towels were super soft and SMELLED FABULOUS. Would love to know what laundry products they use. Great water pressure with plenty of hot water....LOCATION A+: motel located on beautiful Lake Huron with perfect view of Mackinac Bridge...Old Mackinac lighthouse just to left of Motel property and nice little park is located to it's right. Would love to know what laundry products they use. Great water pressure with plenty of hot water. Bathroom was small but adequate and more importantly CLEAN. TV was good. WIFI good. Kids got a kick out of old fashioned push button telephone. Just like on THE BRADY BUNCH. All part of the Retro charm. No fridge in room but who cares, those things usually don't work that well anyway. We brought a cooler. No in room coffee but that was available in office as well as hot chocolate & tea. We enjoyed going down each morning to get coffee ourselves and chat with owners to get tourist info. Very laid back and quiet motel with families, couples and retirees staying there. Not a party scene👌which was ok with us. That being said, we enjoyed cocktails out on the balcony while kids played. ALL NON- SMOKING👍👍👍👍
ROOM EXTERIOR: balcony was immaculate painted bright white. No bugs or cobwebs anywhere. Chairs available to sit outside on balcony. Great view of pool & bridge & lake. Always felt safe. Only one way to drive in & out of hotel parking lot. Our kids brought bikes to ride around on Boardwalk by lighthouse & beach.
POOL: very clean & warm. Small but adequate and our kids loved swimming in it with view of bridge and lake. Owners allowed our kids to swim prior to when pool officially opened (11am) on our last morning there. TGANK YOU SO MUCH for that as we hadn't had a chance to use pool until our last day there.
Would stay there again. Best location in Mackinac city in my opinion. Close to Main Street yet away from hotel strip. Great place to stay if you choose not to stay on island and don't want to spend a lot. Not fancy but super clean and comfortable. It did our kids good to see what motels of years past used to be like. We typically stay in higher end hotels but this was a nice alternative. Didn't miss the usual hotel complimentary breakfast buffet of cafeteria grade food. Go to Darrows restaurant for an AMAZING BREAKFAST. Owner has coupon in office. Can't stress enough how cool view was. Location CANNOT BE BEAT!
Price was $130 a night. Stayed early August mid week. Kids ages 10 & 13.More
