we came to mio on may 31 to take a kirtland's warbler tour on june 1.

to our surprise, the tours out of mio ended on may 31. no notice on the door of us forest service.

the staff at our motel helped us discover the the tours were still available in gaylord and we were able to get on a tour and see the birds.

my friend who was travelling with me is from austrailia.

can you imagine his disappointment if he had been unable to see this local attraction.

the rooms were very comfortable.

staff prepared a continental breakfast for us earlier than normal when they learned that we had to depart very early to drive to gaylord.

what great hospitality.

We spent two nights and were very pleased. The owners even sat down and visited with us at breakfast one morning. Nothing fancy but everything is kept up very well. You can tell that the owners and desk staff put their customers first.

Great mom-and-pop modern hotel with gratis breakfast. Pool and hot tub, friendly atmosphere, interface directly with the owners and family...they know the area and are go-to for pretty much any question one could ask. Rooms are exceptionally clean, large and wonderfully temperature controlled, with sink, refrigerator, microwave with nice counter plus a great space. This facility circa is about 2001. Next to the AuSable River and many other wonderful things to do when one wants to be Up North Michigan. Near downtown Mio, a fine representation of a Northern Michigan town. All at a good/great price.
