Ang Jangmu Sherpa and husband have made a great lodge here, a fusion of traditional Sherpa lodge style and European Mountain Hut. Ang Jangmu Sherpa worked for 5 summers in a hut in Austria, and it shows.
It's a great alternative to staying at Tenboche, just 15 minutes down the hill among the rhododendron forest that is said to have inspired Tolkien. The place is super clean, warm and insulated, with good food, and an excellent view of the walls of Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest behind, and Ama Dablam also in perfect view. You can pretty much take the morning and evening photos you want to take from either your bed or the dining room without getting cold.
Good organic Nepali filter coffee available, internet is here too. Everest climbers often come here for a few days to a week's respite from the harshness of basecamp and high altitude to regain strength. For normal trekkers, a good place to spend an acclimatization day, wandering around through the rhododendron / juniper / pine forest and visiting the local nunnery and the monastery at tengboche too.More
