Horrible stay. We have stayed at Lake Trail two other times and things were fine. We were given room 101 this time and it was so bad that we will not stay at Lake Trail again. Molding hanging in the doorway, sheets stained, didn't feel like we could walk barefoot, tub dirty, old 1990s 19" TV with bad picture, futon so uncomfortable you couldn't sit on it for any length of time and no ice and the freezer had not been thawed in who knows how long! All this for $103/night. To top that all off, we arrived after 16 hours of driving, found the condition of the place, went to the fellow manning the desk and all we got was "sorry, I can't move you".
Nope...not again!

Room was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, TV did not work, lights flashing, phone not working, musty smell - other than that - well no.

Feel sorry for the worker - not her fault this place is run down and is not up to standards.

We drove to Oscoda for a last minute overnight trip. The website wasn't working and we couldn't really see any photos of the room, but we decided to take a chance. Yes, this is an old school 60s style motel and the kitsch element would work better if the decor was a little more cohesive, there were actual glasses and not plastic cups, and it didn't smell like a nursing home. The nursing home smell went away after we opened the window for a while. It was disappointing that a room billed as a "luxury suite" had zero view of the water. The wifi was spotty at best. The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about.
This could be a really cool place with minimal updates and a super deep cleaning.
