This hotel had great customer service. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Affordable rates. We were also impressed with the selection at the continental breakfast. Good food and coffee/tea choices.

My sister and I and our parents stayed here for a night because our original plans at the Doubletree by Hilton on the river fell through due to their pool and hot tub being out of service. No, this place does not have a nice view (it is next to I-69), but we were relieved that it was as nice as it is considering we had to make a quick change of plans. The Doubletree front desk clerk made the call to the Fairfield Inn for us and as we found out upon arrival did not communicate that we needed two beds, and because this hotel was already filling up (I assume with other guests met with the same disappointment as us as the Doubletree), we had to take a King room with a pull-out sofa....hardly adequate for four adults.
The gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly and quickly got us checked into our first floor room, close to the pool. The hotel is either new or must have undergone a complete renovation because everything appears new...from the very clean looking carpet to the bedding and furniture. Our room #121 was very large by average hotel standards. (I will post pictures separately.) The bathroom consists of a small vanity area and open closet just inside the front door, and a small toilet/shower room. (Paul Mitchell hair products...nice.) We had items that needed to go in the fridge, and I had to power the fridge on first and let it get to temperature. The microwave was confusing to operate, never did figure it out. Plenty of lights throughout the room. The sitting area has a small loveseat that can fit two, but the pullout bed inside only sleeps one (or two very small children). We were excited that the desk was the size of a small dining table and was on wheels so we were able to pull it over to the loveseat and pull over the desk chair and other chair int he room so we could play cards.
We went to the hot tub, which was HOT (104 is the max.), hotter than any I'd been in, but we adjusted and relaxed for about a half hour. The pool water was cool but bearable. The pool area itself looked clean and was very nicely laid out with folded towels already set out on a very good number of chairs and side tables located around the room. After cooling out feel in the pool, my sister and I headed back to the hot tub. At this time the jets were not on, and we could see a lot of dirt/debris had settled at the bottom, so we did not get back in. Thankfully, we did not notice this before we got in at first or it would have ruined it for us. We stopped at the front desk and Rain was very helpful in bringing us extra blankets, pillows and a rollaway bed so we could all sleep somewhat comfortably. (There is no such thing as a comfortable sleeper sofa of rollaway bed, but we made the best of it.)
Breakfast the next morning was decent and what you would expect from a Fairfield Inn...hot sausage patties and Canadian bacon, scrambled eggs or cheese omlets (pass, take the scrambled), hard boiled eggs, the standard bagels, breads and sweet breads, waffles, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice. The staff were all very friendly and eager to be of service. And apart from the hot tub, very clean. The room price was $129+tax, not bad for the amenities. I would not say this is a destination hotel like the Doubletree in Port Huron, but I am grateful that we had this option in an otherwise very disappointing situation.
The Marriot always exceeds my expectation. The service is friendly and the breakfast was pretty darn good. The rooms were clean with a microwave and a fridge. This is our go to hotel when we go over the border shopping.
We just stayed here last weekend. We all had a great time . Pool is clean, rooms are clean, people at the desk are great. Housekeeping staff very accommodating. They allowed us to use the downstairs to have a family meal for 40. The only hotel we called that would give us a group rate. All around a very accommodating group. The owner needs to congratulate them.
We stay here every time we are in the area. Lana always greats us with a smile and welcomes us back. We chat about our visits and she is helpful getting us to where we want to be. (as are the rest of the staff) The hotel is very clean and comfortable. We even used the pool this time. How relaxing. Breakfast was certainly satisfactory and they serve the best coffee. Our sister and her husband made this trip with us and they also enjoyed the stay. She said she was very impressed. I have already booked my next trip here.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, but seemed completely overwhelmed when we came to check in (after 3pm). The reception was chaotic in front of and behind the check in desk, the staff seemed to have no idea what rooms were actually available or when they would be available. In their defense, they apparently had two wedding parties booked in and so they had lots of people who had needed early check ins. That said, it shouldn't have been a surprise and it should have been planned for. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our room, despite being told it would only be a couple of minutes. As a platinum status member, not what I expect. When we got to the room, everything was fine and up to Marriot's usual standards.
Thank you for your recent stay with us. It was indeed a very hectic day. Thousands of Hotels nationwide had the internet go down Friday evening and not come back up until that Saturday at 6:10 pm. It was very overwhelming and I sincerely apologize for the wait you experienced. I can imagine how frustrating that was. We appreciate you being a Marriott Platinum Member and hope to see you again.
